Wow, people really dislike the idea of Green Book winning. The controversies don't help, but I guess what does that matter if it wins?

But Moonlight won the globes for drama, and Spotlight won the globes and the CC :huntyga:

Spotlight didn't win a Globe, but yes it did win the Critics' Choice. :huntyga:

I keep seeing tweets about how this film is out to please white men when it comes to racism and that it's problematic. Has anyone seen the movie?

this race is so open, there are no clear frontrunners, and that's a good thing, it only shows how good of a year this was for movies :golfclap:

Globes: BR/Green Book
CC: Roma
PGA: Green Book
DGA: Roma (probably)
SAG: don't know, but it's not gonna be GB or Roma cuz they're not nominated
BAFTA: probably The Favorite, cuz it's british, has the most noms (if Roma or GB wins, then we'll have a frontrunner)

This is so crazy for predictors :ladyhaha:

But now people are saying that PGA voting closed right before the Globes and GB backlash started building up again.

Truthfully I don't think people think it's a great year in film. For various reasons I feel like people are just picking whatever in the top 5.

Ew, I knew that trash was going to win. I called it a few hours ago, but hoped my instincts were wrong

Those people that voted for it probably think they're being edgy by sticking it to people who can actually form a critical and introspective thought. It's wild to see two terrible movies be so successful with picking up awards when any other year they would have been dead. What kills me is that it's not even a weak year for movies either. There's no excuse for these tragic choices.

Anyway, I'm so OVER award season. I'm ready to see Gaga snatch Song, and be done with this BS. :nails:

not to be a downer but I think that ASIB’s reign is officially over, like the hype for it has died down so much already, the only thing it can possibly win at this point are awards for Shallow only (still rooting for it to sweep at the Grammys cos a lot of nominees in the ROTY & SOTY categories are hip-hop & I hope the votes will split)

gaga’s definitely getting that best original song oscar too though

I guess voters just love feel-good films, no matter how good or bad it is :saladga:
