Smother Em Eh 7,131
I hate that today’s pop songs lack a bridge. Many of the classic pop girls (Madge, Bey, Brit, Gaga, Riri etc.) all have amazing bridges in their music. Gaga songs like Poker Face, Judas, Dance In The Dark, G.U.Y., Fashion!, etc. all have some of her best bridges. But today’s songs lack a bridge. It’s usually just a breakdown or the chorus repeated. There’s no change in chord progressions, instrumental or lyrics. That is pretty dull & uninspired to me. Anyone feel the same? Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! Arturo 40,746
You forgot Taylor her bridges are amazing. Reputation doesnt show it off as much but End Game’s bridge >> whew I agree though. I like a lot of the big pop songs recently since late 2018 like Without Me and Thank u next but their bridges are pretty weak.
shame 25,360
The mumbling/lack of enunciation and slurring everyone sounds like they’re drunk-singing angels forever, forever angels
Breakdown 444
I feel like singers are slowly removing elements of what makes a song more stand out from the others (like good vocals, good lyrics, choruses, originality) as time passes. Why is this? Do they want to ruin music in purpose? So starry eyed on the flowery hillside, breathless and fervid amid the dandelions.

It’s something I have observed for the past 3 years about today’s generic af pop tunes. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!
Dutch 91,370
There are still songs with great bridges in 2018/2019, but people seem to love the female versions of Drake and whatever those rappers names are these days.

All Too Well has one of my favorite bridges EVER. Reputation alone, Getaway Car's slayed, even I Did Something Bad.
martiniglistens 1,050
Pop and rap have both gone this way. As a fan of rap up until about 2014ish, there is a noticeable difference now. It is boring, flat, lacking, etc. I feel like pop started to go this way around the same time. But all things are cyclical and im REALLY hoping that the 20s (wow) bring us some new vibes. Wet Fire 7,519
Apart from a few talented musicians (in all genres) pop has become boring. The singers don't have much range. The choruses are insignificant. The melodies are not great. The rap trend has gone downhill. Apart from a very few rappers, the rap game has become extremely uninteresting. The R&B singers are great nowadays. But again, only a handful of them. Like, 8 to 10 years ago we used to have crazy melodies on the radio. Now it's all the same boring **** except a couple of songs. And Dangerous Woman (album) was something that I kept on repeat for days. I don't want to turn this into an Ari-hating thread though. Just saying. I really think the social media age has caused a lot of this lack of creativity weirdly enough. Just cheap, boring sellout stuff

Just cheap, boring sellout stuff Reveal hidden contents I agree. Social media has immense power in sustaining 'trends'. And many 'artists' jump on the trends for hits regardless of whether they have the talent or not. I mean, in the 00's we also had a long standing rap obsession but that rap and this rap today are extremely different quality-wise.
