Ariana Grande - 7 rings

Just thought I'd post this blast from the past for anyone who's not British and/or was too young to remember the early 2000's. Just so you know that Ariana wasn't the first to sample Favourite Things in this way, nor was she the first to make it into a hip hop infused track about material possessions:

It just shows that even when you don't intend to copy, you may still not be as original as you think.

I listen to everything from pop to jazz to hiphop (not only gaga) and tbh this is beyond trash ... I miss the time when pop music was original

Either you like the song or not, if you are not giving props to her for celebrating her success right after she celebrated her love life. That sounds like subconscious misogyny to me. She can get over her ex but she can't celebrate that she's a freaking popstar and trying to focus on that. People are sad.

She want it, she got it. And I'm all here for this!

And also; a woman can't make an original song. She had to be copying someone, right?

There's a thing called 'inspiration' and 'influence'. Her last music video was a compliation of those things, people were fine by that?

can you stop pretending shes the only female artist. Of course this is not the problem it's so fkin obvious. Lana can write original songs and she's a woman. Nicki can write original songs and she's a woman. etc etc etc and obviously GAGA can write a song without copying anyone and well, she's a woman too

Erm... These women definitely have never been called copycats for their groundbreaking projects throughout their careers. *cough* Born This Way *cough*
