Nikolai Barrow 1,337
I'd prefer for her not to take on a new instrument like she did with the guitar for Joanne and focas instead on things she is already masterful at aka singing and playing piano. One can't usually easily take up a whole new instrument people spend their whole life profecting a craft like that.

To believe one shouldn’t learn new things because they’ve already mastered something else is wrong. Should people not be able to grow?

The original accordion has buttons keyboard and is diatonic (different note when pushing or pulling the bellows - Cajun or bandoneon and concertina). Then came the chromatic version with buttons (same note push/pull - The french musette) to ease the thing. And finally, they brought the piano keyboard on the right hand (melody) to allow an easy adaptation from piano to accordion. This is the most bastard version of the instrument. Left hand is a complete other beast though. Usually, piano players on piano-accordion don't use the left hand box (basses + chords). Piano-accordion players, besides some exceptions, use that instrument mostly for the look. Like Grace Jones for instance. You can picture it as a traditional acoustic version of the keytar. So why not ? Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

BTW, if I can judge by your highlighting, you're misreading this. She's not saying "the only thing I want to do now is win." She's saying, "the only reason I want to win now is because ..." (vs. when she wanted to win for her own sake).
Cavadour 2,098
Playing the accordion myself and making a living with it since many years, I just wanted to say that this instrument is not so easy to master. Grace Jones used it for the look. The piano-keys accordion is an hybrid allowing piano player to give it a try more easily. I honestly never heard pianists doing great on the accordion. They usually have no clue to play the basses and chords or the bellows, which are the hardest part of the instrument. On the glitter side, most accordions are covered in strass and rhinestone anyway. This just suits Gaga perfecly. Now, playing it is another story. Gaga plays a nice Gretsch since Joanne but... honestly... it's not her stongest skill. Her dance moves with the instrument are far better than her strumming technique ! But hey, finally who cares ? Elvis has never been a genius guitar player but it looked great on him !
