Ally Campana 15,284
Honestly, not just the pop scene but society in general too. I know lots of artists that came before her have supported the LGBT community too but she really used it in her music videos and songs so daringly. And her activism in that area is astounding. And personally, she had helped me so much in accepting myself. I think I’d be extremely lost with my sexuality and life in general without her and her music. Like she said at Enigma, she is here in the world to help people love themselves. Love you momma. Does it matter? Damage is done
AJRocketMan 2,684
I'm going to reinforce the point that I made with the first sentence of the second paragraph of my post; If it were not for Gaga, dance music—and I mean in all of its forms—would not have achieved the zeitgeist-defining level of success that it did during the first half of the 2010s. I swear, 80% of the people who say they love EDM today, including myself, would not have gotten into it had Gaga not made it a big deal in 2008/9. Dance music by far is the defining sound of 2010s Pop music. Even people who don't like her have to credit her for making their faves even having a chance at a career as her success enticed businesses to embrace dance music. Before, people saw it as "too weird" and "too gay". Now, the general public is so receptive to the style that it can be genericized to make a safe pop hit (such as Marshmello & Bastille's "Happier"), even if it is no longer the dominating generational force it once was. I'm so glad I came of age in the EDM era. If only I could have been in my 20's when it was happening so I could have actually participated in the culture instead of just buying the songs off of iTunes and listening to them while in the car or doing chores or homework. People who were born in the '80s were so lucky!

Gracious Gaga 17,163
W/o Gaga we’d all, hopefully, be doing something better w our lives instead of being here on GGD ♥ Kindness Police.
Smother Em Eh 7,155
The bar wouldn’t of been set so high if it weren’t for Gaga, so it probably wouldn’t be as interesting. Gaga has changed pop culture forever and has pushed boundaries. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!

Quartz 12,620
I thought this was a reach, but actually, all your points are valid. She was the one who made weird okay. No one was exciting in pop for the longest time. Dance pop wasn't the thing. Urban and hip hop were the go to sounds. And of course, my life alone will not be the same without her. As corny as it sounds, she made me, and continue to make me, a better person. I just wonder how many thousands more would feel the same. Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

There are pictures of pop stars before and after Gaga and you can see the difference in their fashion. She elevated everything for sure, and yes I think she is one of the reasons EDM blew up. The world did truly go Gaga for a year or two. She had this weird, electrifying, alien presence. Everything she did, the world watched. I do think she got a bit lost in it all though and ended up repeatedly trying to out-Gaga herself and lost what made it special. I remember when she first blew up, I hated her but I couldn't stop watching with an open mouth, and everyone was talking about her. Tbh, I think it was the last true pop moment. No one has done anything remotely similar since. My mum and I watched her whole Glastonbury set on TV just not knowing what to think but also in awe and shock. She has done so much for pop as an art form, and no one is following in her footsteps imo. It will take a long time before someone as daring and as visionary comes along. I know one thing for sure, Beyonce wouldn't be who she is now without Gaga's impact. She'd still be a basic af popstar with a great voice. Same can be said for many popstars, but Beyonce is someone who has imo so obviously been impacted by Gaga. This is a bit of a reach. Beyonce was never basic, and she was consistently topping herself each era. Her debut caused many artists to change their styles as well. No need to be shady and discredit her, when her and Gaga's styles aren't even the same.

A Hybrid 11,049
I think smaller artists that follow after Gaga would be affected like Miley Cyrus and Cardi B. Other than that, idk. Maybe we wouldn’t have had Man of the Woods and Justin Timberlake would’ve made good music again? No family’s safe when I sashay
