And this seems to blame and pin it all on masculinity. It should have focused on the real issue of toxic masculinity which is about stepping on femininity and the objectification of women. It should have focused on that toxic and unfounded aggression our culture pervades. It should have tackled aggression towards gays, objectification of women, and... Well I think it depends what is meant by 'toxic masculinity'. There's nothing wrong with finding masculinity attractive and having preferences like not being attracted to femmes. Usually it seems to manifest in a sort of intolerance of deviating from 'norms/roles' with an explanation of 'men should be and should do' whatever. I've gotta be honest these guys complaining, in some ways I can see where they are coming from but I don't condone all this "beta cuck soyboy" and "turning men into women" talk they keep bringing up. Parts of this campaign have been poorly worded/conveyed which insinuates that men are inherently bad (their target audience, bad move). I don't know why they thought instead of selling the razor they'd release an advert telling them they are all rapists, sexual harassers, bullies etc (all are behaviours not exclusive to men) but "some" (not most, some) act appropriately would get a positive public response. It's the implication that men just naturally condone that kind of behaviour, addressing men like they as a collective are somehow responsible for all the individual issues of other men. Reverse the advert but base it on female stereotypes and you'd get the exact same reaction. There's been a bit of confusion from both sides of the debate on this advert confusing masculinity and toxic masculinity, there's nothing wrong with masculinity, not all masculinity is toxic. That kind of thing. But what I find most annoying is the hypocrisy from these companies that sell razors, deodorants etc, how long have THEY been the ones putting out unrealistic adverts of women uncontrollably swarming men after they got sprayed with their deodorant. No man in their right mind ever thinks it would happen and mainly just buy based on the price and smell. Media causes a lot of these issues and is only now starting to roll back on their old behaviours (thankfully) now they are trying more inclusive and progressive but this advert felt more like a projection of their own behaviour and a low-life small percentage of men and women and generalising it to an entire gender more than anything.  Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that people believe men don't face sexism. The whole masculinity being fragile thing is valid but completely dismisses the issue with virtue signalling. Men face mass amounts of pressure put on them by both themselves AND women. We always say fight for equality but when it comes to men we turn a blind eye. Women face a mass amount of inequality particularly in the workplace but to ignore the emotional and legal inequality men face is just plain ignorant. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
