Lol, this is so untrue. Gaga never said anything about Sonja (she literally dedicated TEOG to her at the same show) and it's clearly a love song addressed to a man. It probably came out of the ASIB studio sessions and the lyrics fit the Jack-Ally storyline as well.

I thought they said it had nothing to do with ASIB, then again neither did Heal Me but ended up in the movie and those lyrics don't fit in with the Jack-Ally storyline

Well, DJWS said that and I don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth or Twitter #2018radiobitchwhere. I think he just denied it because it doesn't sound nice to say "yeah it's an ASIB reject" or sth similar.

It's not a very Gaga type song, but I love the lyrics and the song itself. I think if she went this way with all her songs, I'd have different feelings.

I think the chorus sounds like 2007 Gaga, and she has over 30 songs where the chorus' begin with the letter 'i' including the cure so

has he ever said anything though that's turned out to be false? I've heard gaga on the radio in 2018 more than I have for the last 5 years

It clearly came out of the ASIB sessions and was most likely intended to be the original "Heal Me", that being said I really don't see it as just being about a man. I interpreted the song as a mantra to herself, in the ways shes always coping with her mental health and physical ailments. Singing repeatedly to herself that she will be the cure she needs through self care/self love. Imo thats what compelled her to release it outside of the context of the film as they obviously decided early on not to use it.

Honestly, I understand that its a very algorithmic song. It fits certain contemporary cliches in its instrumental and lyricism. That being said, I think she pulled it off exceedingly well utilizing vocals ive never heard from her before it, its a refreshingly light hearted pop confection at a time when we truly hadn't received something so light from Gaga arguably since her debut. Its like the Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) of 2017 and for that I really enjoyed it and thought it deserved a little more respect/recognition from the base. But i've noticed in being here that the current state of the fanbase is a little more enraptured with her ARTPOP/BTW sensibilities than that of her debut/TFM which is kind of a more ostentatious desire rather than something particularly well rounded.

He didn't "deny" it, he said that it came from their early experimentation for the direction that they wanted Ally's music to go in. So TC came about from them just playing in the studio. It didn't have a place on ASIB, but they had a fun time with the song and so they recorded it. It's neither it's own thing nor an ASIB reject as it would not have come about without ASIB, but it was also never created for the movie either.

I respect your opinion, but in all honesty The Cure is one of my favorite Gaga songs. I know it’s different for her but that chorus is ear candy to me. And it sound even better live, one of my favorite parts of the JWT.

EDIT: I honestly don’t think Gaga would have released The Cure if it was an ASIB reject. It would have been on the soundtrack like Before I Cry. Plus she said Ally’s pop songs are intentionally made to sound like nothing she would release for herself. But who knows, I could be wrong
