TeenIdle 126,596
Well of course you can consider that Gaga is past her prime because her early career was huge. But what's important is that she's mantained her relevance and transformed it into something even bigger. She's now an icon, a household name, an A-list star no matter what she does. Besides that, can you name one pop artist from the 2000s that isn't past their prime? 𝖓𝖊𝖜 𝖗𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌𝖎𝖔𝖓
Retron 2,605
14 minutes ago, KING said: Because since 2013, people think Gaga’s prime ended in 2011. Mainly her prime in delivering back-to-back hit singles and having a dynamic impact in music. She will never top the charts like 2008-2010 Gaga ever again, and neither will anybody else. That era of the industry is over. And who cares? Her output is still stellar and commercially successful.
Angelm 8,655
I’d say she’s just focusing on being a legend atm, it would take a miracle for her music to be huge, like very huge again, the gp only pays attention to generic music now. But I wold love to see her getting a couple more #1’s and her name being in everyone’s mouth again.
LateToCult 40,903
In terms of chart success in the US? It seems she is past her prime. It’s very hard to give a definitive answer though. The last song that was a real hit in the US was Applause. Since then she hasn’t properly supported a single with potential. DWUW..., GUY was messy, Perfect Illusion was a gamble that didn’t pay off, Million Reasons did well for one week after the super bowl but didn’t get enough people interested for it to have longevity in the top 10, The Cure wasnt even treated like a single, and Joanne was never meant to be anything more than a goodbye to the era. Shallow is performing well considering it was only promoted by the film. It’s not as big as Applause (yet?) but it’s a step in the right direction at least. old sanuk 383
As a pop artist, sure. As a singer, never I hope. I think her prime is still ahead of her, another decade or two, because she’s still getting better. Gaga doesn’t merely sing, she emotes, goes right to the emotional edge on-stage, as Edith, Judy, Liza..with that everpresent little catch in her voice....sometimes past the edge into tears... Others I’ve experienced now gone or still performing give very controlled, technically perfect performances, but don’t leave “it” on-stage as they walk off, e.g. Barbra, Sarah, others... To me, the only bar to surpass is Judy at Carnegie Hall 1961, generally acknowledged as the greatest female solo concert ever (iTunes). I hope Gaga does it, someday... AciidSwine 108
Not sure if she'll ever match her previous music success streak and not at her own fault, but at the fault of the consuming public for being so imbalanced in their condemning opinions towards women over men. metalguru 1,553
I can't say past or ahead but she needs a tight, creative, refreshing, and youthful pop era in the near future. I'm sure she will deliver it, my only worry is the seduction of acting career, I want fully-focus musician GaGa, not a multi-tasked celebrity. McYves 1,612
Internet changed everything, including music, forever. I think she's never gonna have the same "hype" or whatever that she had in 2008-2011 because basic people need to see new faces every 2 minutes and get "bored" quickly of the artists who have been in the industry for years, no matter how talented they are. But ASIB certainly returned her some mainstream popularity. Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I think that artists like Gaga with long careers don't need anything more than their loyal, always loyal fan base. Occasional listeners can go to H.E.L.L. if you ask me. Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, just drink my ****ing coffee and watch 90's cartoons and hush
PoshLife 16,993
She just started a Vegas residency and she won a Golden Globe for a song in her critically acclaimed movie that came out just last year. No, she's having another peak for sure.
