So great she supports Gaga

She is so right on this one, the song really has a powerful meaning! Gaga just made a terrible choice to record it with R.Kelly. The Legendtina version rocks tho. Listened to that Voice performance multiple times today :kara:

This is so sweet.

They should really make the Xtina versión the main one on the album to make a statement. I know R Kelly will still get coin from it but they could also donate their proceeedings from the song to charities for abused women to counteract the damage the song has made.

Weird. How could she have known it was about sexual predators though lol, there's like nothing in the lyrics to suggest that.

Anyway, good milking of the situation, Xtina. Continue with your fake ass feminism, look-at-our-tits-but-don't-look-at-our-tits Fall in Line style :madge:

Is this sarcasm about the lyrics not suggesting that?  She said you can’t have my heart or my mind but do what u want w my body.  Saying that in the process of being sexually assaulted my body may be touched but my heart and my mind says strong .  You got that, right??:selena:

Girl. Song literally says “do what you want with my body but you can’t have my mind”. It could obviously be interpreted in that way.

lol no. Literally no one did that in 2013, especially with R. Kelly's lines :smh:

That song is 100% about the media and there is no subtext about sexual predators whatsoever :rip: She explained that lyric herself with reference to the cover art which was a statement against Kim K selling her body to the press.

Xtina's "you may have had my body" reinterpretation is bs, the whole point of that era was to give her body to the press, it wasn't a retrospect thing. Anyway, whatever. Smart of her to share in Gaga's moment but to me it's really tasteless.

Your heart and mind doesn't stay strong, though.

Yaaassss! I was wondering why no other celebrities were offering support to Gaga. The only one I noticed was Kerry Washington.

''The version of Do What U Want with Xtina is so good and works as an empowerment anthem for women. It deserved to be the original version.''

This is great! And I love how she phrased the meaning of the song to reinforce in a positive way. Gaga has said this, but to have Xtina do so as well is wonderful and should help in this "controversy" blowing over for Gaga.

No it isn't. Just because you perceive it that way doesn't mean you're right. It's like when people think Perfect Illusion is about Gaga and her fans. It's not, it's about her break up with Taylor. Gaga seems to not like to open up about her self and always comes up with bullshit meanings but the art speaks for itself.

Oh my god :air:

Are you guys SERIOUSLY gonna sit here and pretend that these lyrics:

"Sometimes I'm scared I suppose
If you ever let me go
I would fall apart (apart)
If you break my heart
So just take my body
And don't stop the party"

are about sexual abuse? :lmao:

That would make her like an accomplice in her own rape.

The metaphor Gaga uses is literally about physical/bodily abuse, with a subtext/underlying meaning of media abuse.

The interpretation Gaga promoted was definitely about the media and the first verse definitely supports that. But the metaphor of the chorus obviously also has a heavy sexual overtone that connects to Christina's interpretation.
