The Annoying Double-Standard Gaga is held to

It makes me so mad when people who know nothing about Gaga speak hate about her. It reminds me of when Pierce Morgan argued with her when she spoke out about her PTSD. She’s not defending her brand, she’s an advocate for those who have been harmed, end of story.

Agreed it’s disturbing how people paint only the women as trying to protect their brand for SAYING SOMETHING, but then it’s excusable for the men to not say anything. But if the women are mute, then they’re terrible. Just disturbing. And might I add, I’m 99% sure Gaga is one of the few who worked with this evil dude who actually experienced sexual assault and faces trauma etc, YET she still spoke up about him even AFTER years of activism in regards to sexual assault awareness.

Wow, imagine if instead of apologizing she did what Kevin Hart did and said she was "over it". People really are something...

The thing that makes her seem a bit disingenuous is that she is just now apologizing now that R Kelly accusations are blowing back up. I believe that she is sincere and regrets what she did, but she hasn’t helped herself with her extremely poor timing. It’s unfortunate

Why don't they bother all the other artists that worked with him?

Is it because she's Italian? She's probably in the top of most humanitarian and philanthropic artists ever, and people aren't satisfied.

It's great that she said something but I could've told you this would happen :laughga:

You don't win these things today. You're either part of the problem or you're not sincere when you try to be part of the solution.

She made a mistake and apologized. She's done her part, let her be.

Pacify Him

It can't be helped seeing as she's held in much higher regard than every single person in the Entertainment industry.

As an artist, once you do something wrong, it's really hard to undo the effects of it, especially if you're a minority.

Ppl are thinking "why would she collab with him in the first place?" and now that R Kelly is a popular topic due to the documentary, ppl are reluctant to believe she's being genuine rather than just trying to save her career, especially since she didn't participate in the documentary.

They're kinda saying why apologize now. Why work with him in the first place?

No one will ever be happy no matter what she does. Her name WILL come out of people's mouths despite what the situation is just because she's the most talked about person atm

Because people make mistakes. But apparently if you're famous, you're not allowed to make any kind of mistake.

I've been saying this all along.  She would backlash if she said something and backlash if she didn't.  It wasn't a winning situation for Gaga at all, but her statement is beautifully written.

So are we going to just ignore the fact that he shouldn't have been featured in the first place or...

No one is ignoring that, not even Gaga. She literally said she wishes she could go back and talk to herself back then, she clearly regrets featuring him.

It's the media, dig up and you will find every sort of opinions. She's a powerful woman, there will always be scrutiny.

But there's double standards in this fanbase as well, one minute Gaga should not give any statement, the other she is the best person ever for giving a statement. In 2013 she worked with an R&B genius and that is above his sexual misconduct, in 2019 it's absolutely shameful. I mean, annoying double-standards are found basically everywhere.
