Why did you become a stan?

I'm wondering what made each one of you become a stan of our lovely Lady Gaga?

Was there something she did that made you love her? One of her songs that you loved? Something she has said in the past? Her activism on various issues? What was the thing that made you become a stan (and ultimately on GGD).

For me, I went to see ASIB.  I just told my husband I wanted to go to the movies and found that movie was playing, watched the trailer and thought it looked good.  I didn't even know it was Gaga in the trailer until I started reading about the movie. After seeing it the first time (I've been 4 more.), I started looking at things about the movie and then about Gaga. (I immediately downloaded the soundtrack.) As I started finding out things about Gaga, I just loved her more and more each day. Her amazing talent is unmatched, but I think what really did it for me is knowing she is a chronic pain sufferer and has PTSD, but speaks as an advocate for these things.  Living with chronic migraines and PTSD, it helped me to find inspiration for how someone with her magnitude could do so much with living with daily pain.  (I've had the needles in my back via ultrasound like she has done in Five Foot Two, and also in my head. The things you do so you're not in daily pain is crazy.)

The way she performs, when I saw her 2009 Paparazzi performance I just knew she had it all. She put EVERYTHING into that performance and I knew she would be worth stanning :firega:

My mum wanted to see her live after watching Sydney Monster Hall so I thought 'well I'd rather go willingly than have her drag me there' :laughga:

Honestly multiple reasons. Gaga helped me through bullying, her music was good to bop to, and her performances were epic. Also to prove to many ignorant people at the time that you can be straight and be a Gaga fan.

I love Just Dance & Poker Face but the moment I heard Paparazzi and watch these:

I knew she was gonna be a long term favorite artist of mines.

her theatrical performances, music and that she stood up for those who were struggling to find their voices.

You just became a fan? I feel too old honestly:triggered: I’ve been a fan since 2009.

I fell in love with her when I saw the Poker Face video. Although I actually knew of her in 2008. A friend of mine from middle school showed me her single Just Dance on Myspace. What I like the most about Gaga is that she has demonstrated years after years that she is more than just a pop star. She can do many genres. And now, an actress in film. But I think my biggest appreciation for Gaga is for the way she used to perform. I’m talking about Paparazzi at the VMAs. Or Applause. Her theatrical performances were beyond this world.

You feel old because of how long you've been a stan or because of your age? I'm 33, and feel like I'm a bit old to be stanning, but I made another thread about this, and people here made me feel better. :kara:

If it's any consolation, I feel like I missed some of Gaga's great years not becoming a stan earlier.

You're still doing better than those people that'll become a fan after her career has ended

I love this question. Here is my Lady Gaga story once and for all.

In 2018, we celebrated 10 years of The Fame. In 2008, I was 30 years old, felt like I was getting older yet I still didnt look a day over 18 so I found it funny.

I was raised on Madonna, Paula Abdul, Taylor Dayne and all the greats of the 80s with alot of 90s thrown in.

By 2007, I wasnt thrilled with the new music. It needed a jolt. A friend of mine had tickets to a show called "The Fame Ball' in Atlanta by some new artist named Lady Gaga. I'm a show boy at heart so I said why not..and I went.

It was messy but within the mess I saw flashes of brilliance and the voice and persona of a true star. It wouldnt even be a year or so later before I was seeing the same Lady in a sold out arena on the Monster Ball Tour. Still rough around the edges but a great show. I really liked her.

I was a full grown man that had been out longer than some fans had been alive when the Born This Way album hit and I remember thinking WOW..look how far things have come!  Look at this anthem, this fighter! I fell officially in love.

But it was that one night in Dallas, Texas where I witnessed with my own eyes the Born This Way Ball that eternally hooked me. Not only could she do the pop girl thing...she could REALLY sing. And she was fighting for us night and after night nearly killing herself for the cause of pop justice. I call it POP CHURCH cuz that's how it felt. It was that night officially where I never turned back. Been to every tour since and she has never disappointed.

I was already a grown man who was and is very confident and happy...I didnt know I needed her until she gave herself to me and now I couldnt live without it.

I'm gonna marry the night

I wont give up on my life! Xoxo

Oh and I just turned 40. Dont look 18 anymore... I aged. Now I look 25.  😎😋
