Epione 10,896
She did more than enough for this cause. She shouldn’t say anything. She does not have to please Tumblr, Twitter and Madonna stans. Case closed.

She intentionally planned a rape-related video with him ànd Terry friggin' Richardson. She milked that situation for controversy and now she has to pay the price imo. Sorry. What price? Did she kill anyone? Are you delusional?

It’s not like other celebrities. “Oh it’s just a song” It’s not just ANY song. It’s a song called “Do What U want (with my body)” And don’t need to tell me about how it has to do with the media and not actually physical. I know that. But the GP doesn’t. And honestly I wouldn’t care about the exact context if I weren’t her fan. I mean a song where the most repeated line is “Do what u want what u want with my body” can easily be interpreted negatively.” It also doesn’t help that she performed this WITH HIM MULTIPLE TIMES, each time extremely suggestive. Her other most known collaboration was with Beyonce and they never performed live together. So you could see how Gaga’s involvement went beyond “just recording a song” Then there’s the video fiasco, which I believe had it been officially released, would have ended Gaga for good. It was clear they were going for controversy. What kind of “attack on the media” theme has simulated drug rape scene?? That was so disgusting honestly. Thank god Gaga snapped out of it and shelved the damn thing in time. But I digress. The point is - her involvement with him is just too deep and disturbing, considering how she’s a known sexual harrassment survivor and activist for the cause. IT CANNOT BE EXCUSED. She needs to speak out. She obviously ignored the whole thing a few years back, but now, she’s had some time to reflect on it. And speaking out on it shows that she has matured and I cannot see what can go wrong for her image if she chooses to condemn him and acknowledge her mistake. If she doesn’t, on the other hand, she will be deemed a hypocrite and a coward. And while I won’t unstan her for it, I certainly will have less respect for her. This is important. Some people on here aren't taking in the context. It wasn't just any song, it was a sexually suggestive song with a known creep, that she performed on national television twice, and recorded a rapey music video with. So, you could definitely argue that Gaga should release a statement more than the (tons of) other people who worked with him.
HighwayGuy 1,498
She doesn't need to apologise when at the time she just didn't know. BUT what she could do is share something like this and just remind everyone that SHE'S the one who actually HAS done SO MUCH to SUPPORT survivors of sexual abuse LEAVE GAGA ALONE

She literally included him on the song - in her exact words - because the media “wrote very untrue things about them,” essentially reducing the rape and abuse his victims suffered as being untrue media buzz. That is just... I have no words tbh. I fully believe Gaga has grown since then and does not condone his actions any longer, but she never once spoke about it in a negative light. She has done other great stuff but it looks disingenuous to outsiders when she never fully condoned this or owned up to it before switching her tone. All she has to do is come out with a simple apology. Sure, it won’t be enough for some people, but that will nip 70% of the backlash in the bud. It’s not ****ing hard and I’m really sad to see people so far up her ass that they can’t just admit she should acknowledge it - and move on ONCE and for all. PunkTheFunk 124,445
As much as I love her, she made a bad choice 5 years ago to work with a sex offender and now she has to face the consequences for her actions. Simple as that. Whether her career momentum will take a hit because of this, or this all blows over in a couple of days, only time will tell.
Ziggy 11,863
She should comment because she collaborated on a song with Kelly deliberately *about* the media scrutiny he's received. It wasn't just some song for some random reason. She chose him because he's an R&B icon and because he has been (deservedly) lambasted by the media. And she also should because of how frequently she speaks of sexual assault. This is a sore spot and makes her look hypocritical even though she's distanced herself from him. GypsyBabe 22,836
I have this feeling of foreboding on this whole issue. She should have made a statement a long time ago so she wouldn’t have to say anything now. That music video better not all of a sudden resurface. ⚯͛
hardcore1996 1,618
yall have to take in too- DWUW happened 20 years after his first public offence, marrying Aaliyah when she was 15 and he was 27 (i think). And, over a decade after the urine video and the first wave of sexual misconduct allegations came out. None of this was new to anyone. She should have known better and she’s said more on scrapping Azealia Banks than she has on scrapping a project with one of the most eatablished and well known sex offenders of our time. Love her immensely and know she is well intended - but working with him to begin with was a total mistake and she should own up it before the media paints this narrative for her. This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.
