And Ross of course knows it. Not the case when Gaga already has BAFTA, Golden Globes and SAG noms. LastNight 5,935
Gaga got amazing critical reviews, the film was a success and her performance created hype and momentum around her - the Academy loves all of that. She is nominated for a BAFTA, SAG, was nominated for the GG, so it's highly unlikely to me that she won't get a nod at the Oscars. Everyone keeps saying how tough the competition is, and they're right, but she is tough competition too and we shouldn't forget that Winning it is up for debate, but a nomination is pretty much on lock - I would be genuinely shocked if it didn't happen, she has so much going for her in this particular race. Has anyone else watched any of the videos on the 'Be Kind Rewind' YouTube channel? They're fascinating breakdowns of past best actress nominees and winners from across the decades. The Cher one is great (below) and the part about Cher having buzz around her that year, both for the film and her work outside of it, was really interesting (from 11.13 in the video). There are also massive parallels between her and Gaga: the preconceived notions about Cher as a performer, her fight for her place as a serious actress and her pursuit of longevity in the business (from 6.40 in the video). Those things aren't necessarily relevant to this discussion but they're interesting anyway. The fact that Gaga currently has a hyped and rave-reviewed Vegas show, her nominations for other awards and that there was some (albeit unnecessary) upset over her missing out on a GG win, will all play in her favour for a nom. Also, SHE WAS AMAZING and deserves it for that and that alone. It's easy to forget because it's been a while now, and because of other actress' great performances since, but our girl did a stellar job.
LGMonster95 13,704
I mean even BAFTA gave Gaga a nomination for best actress and it's been more than 30 years since they gave one to a singer
Spartacus 4,485
Gaga has been nominated for every major acting award this season... yet the Oscars are gonna snub her? Where's Madonna's SAG and BAFTA nomination? There's no comparison. This "rumor" was very likely started by a Madonna fan and the Madonna fans (willing to bet this Ross guy is one of them) are fanning the flame they created, hoping that Gaga doesn't get a nom so she doesn't surpass Madge in that regard. -𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐌𝐀™
Thomas P 18,479
If gaga doesn’t get a mom for best actress she’s not getting one for song either cause the only way for that to heppen is if the Oscars completely ban her. BAFTA and SAG were the hard ones to get, and she got both so she’s fine. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

BRITISH emily blunt was just snubbed by the BAFTA's for crying out loud, while gaga was nominated. it's 100% going to happen, i'm not even worried. SKANK 14,288
If you listen to his podcast you know Ross is kind of an Oscar's savant, but also a Gaga stan who was with her the day she found out she got ASIB. So he might be right, or might be too invested. His story about meeting Gaga story is great:
