This will never happen.

I don't see Gaga winning the Oscar for Best Actress; Coleman will win the BAFTA and whoever out of her and Close takes the SAG will then proceed to win the Oscar.

The Critics Choice Awards on Sunday will also likely indicate which of the ladies will be up on that podium on Oscars Night.

Idk much about these award shows. But what if Gaga takes Critics Choice Awards. Glenn takes SAG. And Olivia takes BAFTA. What will happen then?

Glenn would most likely go on to win the Oscar if she takes the Globe and the SAG.

I didnt want to create a new thread for this and figured this one to be the better choice to mention this.

Everyone knows I love Gaga and she obviously knocked her performance out of the park.

I was lucky enough to find a theater playing The Wife last night and I must say it is one HELL of a film. Thanks to Glenn's performance, the entire movie has an unusual edge simmering below the surface of each scene making you feel things such as anger, sadness, tension and a need to nearly scream at the screen for her to say ANYTHING to her husband.

Basically the film is about a married couple and she assists in the books he writes. When one becomes a massive seller and hailed a classic, she sits in the back as he takes all the accolades even saying in a speech of how "she doesnt write."

A scene near the end left my jaw on the floor where it still remains.

Glenn's performance is one of a quiet rage that builds as the film progresses into a master class of acting. Its hypnotic to watch. You know something will fall apart at some point and it's an interesting conversation to have after the film! Because it does fall but not exactly how one would expect it to.

Soooooo, now that I have seen the hype for myself.....Glenn is the one to beat this year. Gotta say tho UGH ...if Glenn wins, I cant get mad. She was that damn good.

It's going to be a very tense night at the Oscar's my friends.

If that happens Gaga should just head to Epione and become Barbra

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I know it's been a few hours, but I had meant to respond to your comment earlier... I think you totally could've made a separate thread, you know - you make some really great points. Thanks for choosing to post them on my topic :koons:

I think it is important that we all remember that Gaga is first-and-foremost a musician... and for that to be recognised within the context of a movie, should be more than enough for us. The Golden Globe for Shallow is a fantastic achievement, and we should be hopeful that she repeats that at The Oscars.

What a huge achievement it would be: two Golden Globes and an Oscar just ten years into her career.

Anything else, acting-related, should be received by us as a total bonus - not an entitlement. And we shouldn't be mad about that.  As you say, Glenn's performance in The Wife is truly spectacular. And this woman has committed her entire life to the movies - she deserves all the recognition in the world for her talent.

In fact, thinking about it, if Gaga were to win the Oscar, I hope for the almost impossible tie-breaker with Glenn. For Gaga to win this award alone would be an injustice... which is why we should accept that it most likely is not going to happen.

Look...

Glenn's performance is terrific. She has been in this business since 1979. She is one of the greatest of her generation.

To lose to Glenn Close is an honor of outstanding proportions.

..and Gaga completely understands that..

A tie however would be the only thing anyone would talk about for weeks..and yes, we are due for one...
