OMonster 14,720
So, I've been thinking... it's a long-shot, but hear me out. In 1969, old-timer Katharine Hepburn and pop-star-newcomer, Barbra Streisand, were the clear frontrunners for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Hepburn, having been nominated ten times previously, was just edging out Streisand in the predictions. On the night, it was revealed that the two actresses had tied with 3030 votes each - becoming the first (and only) women to ever share the honour of Best Actress. This was the beginning of Streisand's iconic career as a star of screen, as well as of stage. Now, to me, this all rings eerily similar to the case of Gaga v. Glenn. And how odd it would be for Gaga to tie for her first Oscar award with a Hollywood legend, just as Barbra did - for a role Barbra previously made so iconic. The universe works in weird and wonderful ways... Spoiler This may all seem like a wild stretch... but there's a few circumstances that might actually make it more plausible. Firstly, the Academy will be well aware of the 'uncanniness' of such an outcome. With rumours of Barbra and Gaga appearing together at the Oscars, a tied-win would put them both at the very centre of the night's main event. Convenient, some would say. Secondly, I am sure the Academy will also know that Glenn and Gaga are family friends - via Cynthia. Perhaps this may reinforce their 'plan' (it would be too coincidental for such a strange-parallel to just happen) to honour them both as Best Actress, knowing it wouldn't be a frosty or awkward tie. And thirdly... just think about it. Imagine the press this story would generate for the Academy - particularly after the outrage (even beyond GGD, you know) regards ASIBs Golden Globe snub. It would be the perfect headline. subtext / fantasy
Didymus 34,380
That will never happen but it would be so much fun! Glenn and Gaga like each other anyway so it would make the cutest moment. Why are we all so convinced Glenn will win though? Olivia is in the running too and imo she has at least as much of a shot as Gaga (or Glenn)
2HB 536
You know the chances for a tie is EXTREMLY SLIM since it requires exactly same amount of votes on both side. That would be epic tho.

It's a very, very unlikely outcome, I know that - but as @Didymus says, it would be pretty fun... if virtually impossible. subtext / fantasy

warrentw 898
this would be the perfect result really but never will happen, imagine how excited cynthia would be
AlexanderMagno 10,746
I really, really think we should focused on the Oscar for Best Original Song that’s what we truly want and deserve after the TIHTY meltdown. If the Oscar for Best Actress happens, it will be the biggest surprise of our lives, but if it doesn’t we’re not really expecting it.
Bio 23,538
If that's gonna happen it's gonna be between Glenn and Olivia, not Gaga.
MonSwiftAnton 3,784
I'm will be happy on Oscar night that Gagas first and only Oscar of the night will be for Shallow and not TIHTY.
Borisapillar 9,389
A big difference is that Glenn has never won an Oscar. Ms. Hepburn had four.
nodandsmile 10,741
But you are forgeting about someone though: Olivia Colman (who, in my point, is better than them all). She'll take BAFTA, making it a two-way race with however takes SAG (which I think will be Glenn), if she doesn't take sag herself!
Damon 10,904
lmao no Glenn really deserves to win, her role in The Wife is really outstanding, Gaga is not even close to her but she still did a good job in ASIB ... and now i just sit in silence. WorstBehavior 1,141
What about the members splitting the votes between Olivia Colman and Glenn Close? Which will result in a win for Gaga. Isn’t that a more realistic outcome?
MelbHawker 6,583
This will never happen. I don't see Gaga winning the Oscar for Best Actress; Coleman will win the BAFTA and whoever out of her and Close takes the SAG will then proceed to win the Oscar. The Critics Choice Awards on Sunday will also likely indicate which of the ladies will be up on that podium on Oscars Night.
