Like most of us I've been thinking about Gaga's chances, which initially I thought were all gone but with some further research I've got some hope left. Take a look at the history of Best Actress over the years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Actress It's predominantly white women who weren't necessarily the best of that year. Or older actresses that just got it for honorary reasons, not the specific performances (this bugs me so much). It's time for change. Glenn Close deserves the Oscar for sure, but you never know, Gaga could grab that out of nowhere. But the thing is, it's not even out of nowhere because THE ACCLAIM over the last 4 months. That can't be for nothing? Also, I discovered that the only two artists/singers that won are Barbra Streisand & Cher! Both of whom adore Gaga and inspired aspects of her career. If Emma Stone can beat Meryl Streep and Natalie Portman (who played Jackie Kennedy btw!) for a mediocre performance in La La Land (sorry I just couldn't with her voice), then why not Gaga? Yeah, it's a debut role but she NAILED it and even outshone Bradley in some scenes. I know she will have other acting opportunities but she deserves a win for ALLY specifially. She just does. I'm just going to watch this and pray every night until Feb 24. (Cher even beat Glenn here! LOL. Also, remember when Gaga mentioned Moonstruck after winning the Globe for AHS? Saorise Ronan got a globe for Lady Bird and then Frances McDormand beat her at every single other show (in which they were nominated together).
