sethrb101 4,523
I know we’re all freaking out and melting down over Gaga and ASIB only winning for Shallow tonight (congrats there!), but we should really take a step back and consider where we were at a year ago. Before any praise started to come in, many were worried about this film and thought Gaga would bomb in her first starring role in a film. Not only did she not bomb, she soared. Infinite amounts of praise from her peers and critics, a solid RT score, a box office success, and numerous nominations and awards. Gaga may have been “snubbed” tonight and deserved her Best Actress award (along with the other awards for ASIB), but tonight was not a failure. The fact she was even nominated for her first starring role is AMAZING. It is only the beginning of Gaga’s acting career. Hell, even Cher didn’t win her first go at it at the Oscars. Luzaleja 2,353
tbh the fact that not only monsters and fans but also part of the GP and the media is upset and saying she was snubbed is a win I'm so proud of Gaga and her hard work
RAMROD 110,109
Honestly, I'm not even mad sksksks I am very happy Gaga won her 2nd globe. Other than that it is a good evening for me, Sandra Oh wins and Regina King wins. And Into The Spider Verse wins. What more could I ask? It is a great start for Gaga. Not many musician turned actor/actress that have so much acclaim and acceptance like her does now in their first year. There are always next time for bigger chunks of cheese. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ hating pop music doesn't make you deep (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
WildAmerican 13,672
I agree with everything you said. It's just annoying for her to be hyped up so much to outright WIN the award and then to not see it happen.
Guest Adarsh
The biggest snub was BR winning over ASIB. Literally no one saw that coming. At least Gaga won something, lets celebrate that
Galagala 4,618
Stop those "consider where we were at last year" nonsense. The movie is out now, deserves awards ,and gain huge critical and commercial success. We can just say Gaga is not lucky today.

Didymus 34,380
Thanks for this. It's insane. Like, I've almost fallen out of my seat hearing about the incredible awards she's won already. National Board of Review Awards? Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association? Those are true, legit award circles that are very respected in the industry And they're not popularity contests/press controlled lol To be even nominated next to someone like Close is a massive achievement, and Gaga should be very proud. This only increases her momentum for future projects. You're so right, imagine if this movie bombed and ruined her chances of ever building up a credible acting career because of lacking acclaim. I'm still absolutely thrilled for this era, as we all should be
River 117,771
The competition for BA is too tough, I’m realistic so Gaga performance compare to the others is pretty low, but just too see her name among the big actresses, it’s a big achievement and I’m proud of her. she has a long way to go, it’s just not her time to win BA yet.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
gagarox 1,495
thats not how it works... she delivered a final product which was worthy of those awards and we have every right to be upset about it... just because 2 , 3, 5 or 10 years ago something was happening doesnt mean ****... ASIB is not the only final product worthy of those awards though Obviously this fanbase is championing that movie but there were other incredible performances and movies this year that shouldn't just stop being even more acclaimed just because we want Gaga to win something Like, yes you have the right to be upset but don't let it ruin the incredible achievements that have already happened

And I just know that 75% of the people saying it is trash never bothered to watch those movies in theaters. Everyone on those nomination lists deserved to win and not just Gaga. This applies to any award show too.
Guillaume Hamon 6,537
Honestly these awards are just the cherry on the pie, nothing else. Gaga could have been deemed a flop actress and hire by no one if her first big role was in a box office bomb and now she's receiving a ton of scripts from studios. That's amazing in itself! The fact she did one version of a classic saga will keep her name in cinema history for a long time as well, mainly since it was a public success with excellent reviews. These reviews are also the reason why she gonna be taken seriously as an actress from now on. Be positive guys!
