SevenWonder 4,365
It's the SAG awards that really matter. The BA race was always going to be between, Glenn, Olivia and Gaga. Gaga was the odd woman out tonight. Does not she will be for the Oscars. Especially because Glenn and Olivia might split votes. Both are "grand dames". I'm actually a television writer who grew up in the business. If that gives my humble opinion any weight...

So you would even see a chance of Gaga actually winning BA? the thing with the split is true, I didn’t think about that, actually interesting tea SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999

Delulu Rogers 7,251
I don't get what everyone is so shocked about? Glenn close and Rami were coming from a mile away with those wins. Both were amazing in those movies and Alfonso is also a great director. It sucks that ASIB didn't win anything and is probably indicative for the oscars but is anyone really surprised? How many times do we have to go through this especially after the truly disastrous 2016 oscars? Expect the least, hope for the best is the best and only way to go. If you don't know why people are shocked perhaps you weren't paying attention. Tonight's headline by The New York Times; Glenn Close Upsets Lady Gaga, Takes Best Actress at the Golden Globes. "Glenn Close won a Golden Globe on Sunday and it was one of the biggest upsets of the night. Her portrayal of Joan Castleman in “The Wife” won her a third Globe for best actress in a drama, over Lady Gaga, who was widely expected to win for her performance in “A Star is Born.” Gaga was the presumed winner by everyone in the business of predictions. Glen was shocked, taking a moment to talk to Gaga before going on stage. I'm not saying Close's win wasn't worthy, and she is expected to win at many of the award shows this season, but her Golden Globe win was surprising. She’s of course better than Gaga. However, this award season, she’s only winning because she has lost so many times before. This win feels more like a lifetime achievement than anything. And it will happen at Oscars as well. Where she should’ve won back in 1988 for her role in Fatal Attraction.
Gagally 775
I read in September (before ASiB was released) that Close will beat Gaga for the Oscar. I was shocked and saddened to read it, I believe I blocked it, lulling myself to believing Gaga had it nailed. The cool thing about tonight was how absolutely shocked Glenn Close was. And she made it a point to stop at Gaga's table. Disappointing, but Gaga did not look too upset to me. Frankly, I thought she looked more sad at all the attention Bradley was paying to Irina.
