I think this thread is about the movie, not Gaga. And honestly, after all the hype from the media AND the experts saying it will win so much awards: Yes it’s a disaster...

Nominations alone are huge success.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

You gotta remember that the Golden Globes have a Jury of 93 people from the HFPA whilst the Oscars has 60,000 from the AMPAS.

Exactly, and those 93 people are soley from the press. The Academy is composed of film makers, actors, editors and critics. Theres a lot more implications in their voting process. Thats why they say that the GG are the lesser version of the Oscars. However, If ASIB continues to lose at the other award shows before the Oscar we can expect a similar outcome as tonights.

I edited it. Thank you! That’s a point indeed...

She and everyone involved in the film should just be happy that this movie was even nominated and that they’re standing on the red carpet because of their achievements. This was Bradley’s directorial debut and he’s being NOMINATED for oscars and golden globes, that’s huge in and of itself.

Gaga is getting her SECOND GG, something the nonbelievers thought she’d probably never see again in her career, and being NOMINATED for best actress Oscars and GG like???? She’s proud of that alone, the wins are extra and obviously anyone nominated would want to be the winner but they should just be happy that out of all the amazing films released they are of the 5-6 people even being considered to be the best. I doubt it bothers her as much as it bothers y’all.

This film could have been SLANDERED and nominated for razzies but they are sitting at these prestige award shows for it and y’all wanna panic, like?????

Sure. But you can still call it a disaster after all the hype (and I am not speaking of the hype inside the fanbase). My local Radiostation already said it was the biggest surprise of the evening that ASIB didn’t win any award besides BOS

REALITY

Personally, I think that it will lower Gaga's chances of winning by quite a bit. I'm no expert or anything, but after seeing Glenn Close win, I feel like the Academy might want to give her to Oscar even more because she's sort of the "female Leonardo DiCaprio" when it comes to the Oscars. She's been nominated a lot, but she hasn't won.

As for Best Original Song, I do think she has a pretty good chance of winning. Then again, we all thought she had a pretty good chance of winning Best Actress here too, so I wouldn't be too optimistic about it.

Mte, the oscar voters would have better judgement on their winners since theyd understant the work and effort actors, directors, and producers put in their respective films

It's impossible to know the chances of her winning the Oscar. If the loss of the Golden Globe has proven anything, it is how unreliable award show predictions are.

I personally am hoping for an Oscar tie. In 1969 the young ingénue Barbra Streisand tied with established legend Katharine Hepburn, both winning the Oscar for Best Actress. I would love to see that repeated with Gaga and Glen Close.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is made up of 90 people, mostly film critics. Very small pool of people.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is made up of 6,000, all industry. Oscar winners are usually like 50%-60% different from the Globes. The Globes are much better at predicting Oscar nominees.

Gaga winning isn’t possible imo but BR is winning nothing at the Oscars.

Yep, no way BR wins anything at the Oscars. It's not a great movie, and I love Queen.

I posted this in the GG thread:

Y'all, the Globes kinda mean nothing. It's just an event hosted by (mostly) European film critics to pat themselves on the back. It's a con Hollywood just kind of goes along with, for some reason. Save your meltdowns for the Oscars. :huntyga:
