It requires more imagination for you to turn Rowling's Goblin bankers into an antisemitic metaphor than it did for Rowling to write it. There is a very long history, across cultures, of hideous short creatures living underground and guarding treasure. In Irish myths leprechauns are short, often hideous, guardians of gold. Similarly in Scandinavian and Norse mythology trolls are ugly cave dwelling human-like creatures. Tolkien wrote about a cantankerous race of dwarfs who lived underground making jewellery. The Brothers Grimm wrote about Rumpelstiltskin, a short, hook nosed, gold obsessed, trickster imp. C. S. Lewis wrote about ugly, short, dwarf named Trumpkin who lived underground. Puck in Shakespeare's Mid Summer Night's Dream is a short, mischievous, hobgoblin. The dwarfs in Snow White are gold miners. The troll in Three Billy Goats Gruff has a nose "as long as a broom handle" and greedily guards his most precious possession. Speaking of precious, you can't forget about Gollum - the hideous short hobbit obsessed and bewitched by a gold ring. The Princess and The Goblin, both the poem by Sylvia Plath and the 18th century story which Plath took inspiration from, depict Goblins as hook-nosed, immoral creatures living underground. Social Justice Warriors often have honorable intentions, but loose people when they feel the need to insert their agenda at inappropriate times. What pipes did the snake use beforehand? What was the original entrance? Who CHANGED the entrance 900 years after hogwarts was built considering it was supposedly a secret chamber none of the founders, dumbledore or even Merlin himself could find? The snake didn't use pipes beforehand since it was asleep for centuries. When Salazaar left Hogwarts he commanded the snake to sleep until the true heir of Slytherin would command it to awake again. The pipes were an added bonus for killing efficiency.

Ridiculous. You're ridiculous. Harry Potter is from 20th century and they introuduced plumbing system to the wizards in 18th century. There was no point to learn vanishing spells after that. StrawberryBlond 14,862
I find her attempts to go back on things she's said in the books before to be rather eye-rolling. She was adamant that Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione were the ideal couples and wouldn't listen to reason. It was so weird how out-of-nowhere Harry's attraction to Ginny came from and how we were supposed to buy them as a couple, not to mention how Ron and Hermione, who were always bickering, would become a couple (Hermione certainly wouldn't stand for it). And years later, she admitted that she did get it wrong and perhaps she became too focused on what she wanted rather than who was genuinely compatible for each other and what the books were suggesting up until the point: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2014/feb/02/jk-rowling-hermione-harry-ron-married All the directors of the films clearly thought Harry and Hermione should have been together and I'm glad they made their feelings known in the earlier films, even if the inevitable did have to happen. There are plenty of Rons in this world, who have a silly crush on a female friend but don't know how to show it and are ultimately not her perfect match. Surely, as a feminist, she must have realised that she was sentencing Hermione to a life of arguing and exasperation by pairing her with Ron? If she wanted to give every character the perfect match, Hermione got the short straw and then some. I feel if she goes too indepth, she's going to start to lose the credibility of her creation, no different to movie series that go through reboot after reboot, changing the story every time to milk the most money out of one creative idea. And is she honestly suggesting that witches and wizards literally peed right through their clothes before they vanished the evidence as opposed to doing it into a bowl first, then vanishing the contents? Why damage all your clothes, even if you are going to magic it away? Surely many couldn't take the indignity? People have used chamber pots for centuries, they didn't just do it where they stood. Yes, they didn't always have one to hand, but in the magical world, you can magic stuff up, so yeah. Something tells me she sometimes just dreams something up, doesn't pass it through anyone, and just puts it out there, without realising that there may be holes in it.
