Yeah, so only NY and CA can solely be the decision maker in election... great way to eliminate the voice of the majority of the nation

Well guess what, NY and CA kinda are the majority of the nation while 20+ red states hold twice to twenty times as much power as they actually should according to demographics. :selena:

Actually all large metropolitan districts unanimously and definitively voted liberal.

The power of social media. Liberal infuence.

rural internet use is mainly shopping and research, news.

That's the premise of democracy. Literally.

"Democracy, in modern usage, has three senses—all for a system of government where the citizens exercise power by voting. In a direct democracy, the citizens as a whole form a governing body and vote directly on each issue. In a representative democracy the citizens elect representatives from among themselves."

The majority of Germans thought Hitler a savior pre WWII..

While I can't equate liberal ideology to Facist dictatorship, my point is the majority isn't always correct.

You know exactly what I meant, please don't play devil's advocate on this one. The vote of an average Californian and New Yorker means is effectively inequal and has around 10 times less weight than an average vote let's say... South Dakota. We all know that the USA would be in a better place right now (and probably 50 years into the future) if the actual popular votes were indicative of who runs the country.

The masses can be easily manipulated, I am matter of fact German you don't need to tell me that. But according to the popular vote, due to better education and transparence provided through social media, this manipulation is only half as effective.

I don't see the dems political sloganing "Medicaid for all" or the massive tax increases needed to fund it as the best course of action at this time nor the future.   Since I'm no longer a Californian or in a majority state, my opinion or vote doesn't  carry more weight, it simply let's the representative know where I stand.

But the fact is a pure majority vote in the US would mean only the large cities would have any say so at all.

Bottom line is the Electoral College doesn't "protect" rural and so-called smaller states. This is a lie. What it does is dilute the vote of those in major urban metropolitan areas by making votes there count less than votes in more rural states.

More and more people are moving to urban centers and cities, and this trend is only increasing every year. So they should have more of a say considering they're where MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE and where the major economic engines running this damn country are.

If the Electoral College were there to "protect" votes then it should be representative and places like CA with much larger populations should have WAY MORE electoral votes than they currently do. Which isn't the case.

The President is supposed to represent ALL of the the US, not a small minority of people who live in states where almost no one lives relative to other states. So the voting process should reflect that. If the Electoral College has to stay, then update it so it's more reflective of the country. Otherwise this outdated institution needs to be rid of.

One person, one vote. Electoral College makes a mockery of this principle.

So raw materials required by manufacturing plants come from where?

Food that people eat in the cities come from where?

Oil to run all those cars  come from where.?

Electricity is produced where?

All things necessary to keep people alive in a city come from which voter group ?

Who cares what rural voters want?
