I really hope she says something soon, it's really disheartening to see her tweet about BLM and claim to be an advocate for victims of SA yet not acknowledge that it was wrong to support someone who harmed so many black women for so long. She can't pretend it didn't happen but she can admit that it was wrong of her to work with a known predator. Kelly she willingly chose to collaborate... it's the fact that she went out of her way to get Terry Richardson (another alleged rapist) to direct the music video as well. She never mentions that she herself became a part of the problem by supporting a man like R. Kelly. Whether it was intentional or not there has to be some accountability. I appreciate her entire TIHTY campaign, way more than a simple and specific response to this. Idk why that’s not good enough for you. You know how many celebs type out “sorry” and don’t mean it? The fact she co-wrote, sang the song so may times on TV and stood for ALL survivors in speeches and interviews and everything is the best thing anything can do regarding this, especially after working with him. That’s her response to R Kelly. Where is the inference? If she needs to force feed you the fact that she specifically doesn’t like R Kelly that’s a you problem bc her stance is clear as **** to me. Real ass charity work. If you don’t appreciate that then I have no words for your messy standards. And yeah I know what white feminism is, but then what about black feminism that doesn’t speak on queer black women, and those queer black women that stay silent to those in developing countries?
