It's something that has never been done before that was previously unattainable and extremely dangerous. For instance when our Apollo missions traveled around the moon they would lose all communication with Earth. Apollo 8 was the first to do it and it was a stressful dangerous thing, and only just being done all these decades later for the first time! Sounds like a big deal to me. I lead night sky and astronomy programs and we get some wack-a-doodle questions. There are really people that think the moon is made of cheese, or that you can see angels through telescopes.
