Thats why laws are important and they should reflect the reality of life in that society. We should definetelly not chance laws because we dont like R Kelly. But clearly people here dont know what age of consent is. this exact thinking is why people think the LGBT community wants to start accepting pedophiles. Gay sex between two consenting people in their own age group is no where near comparable with R. Kelly being a statutory rapist. I'm honestly beyond disgusted at the fact that you even made that comparison as if Grown ass men f*cking underaged kids. AND Aaliyah is from New York where the age of consent is 17. Not like it would make things any better but using your way of thinking, It would've still been illegal for R.Kelly to have sex with her.

It’s Gaga's career and album, also, from her words, she was the reason he even listened to the song. “I wrote that song with Paul (DJ White Shadow) and when it was done, I said “well, it’s an R&B song and I’m a white chick from New York, so we better call the King of R&B and see if he likes it.” The story I heard Gaga say in an interview was somebody (it must have been DJWS) said "you know who would sound so good on this song?... R Kelly!" And then Gaga had the lightbulb moment to include him on it. So whats the real story?

I might me misremembering, but I remember her saying that she wanted an RnB artist on it, her and Tara were big fans of R. Kelly and they met him at some concert (around summer 2012) and DJWS formally connected the two in the studio. Again, I might be remembering it incorrectly lol 5 minutes ago, Borislshere said: In the ARTPOP commentary, she says she wanted R.kelly on it because the media "kind of writes lies" about him. Teenagers do and every state on the planet has an age of consent. If R Kelly had sex with someone that didnt have the age of consent or didnt give the consent, he should go to jail. If not, no one should care. I dont know that much about his stories, so I cant judge in dept. My points were general. But regarding the age of consent in New York, that means that it is illegal to have sex if you have less than 17 years old. I wonder what the 16 years old of New York think about this. I also understand than the law says that you can have sex with people under 17, if you are married, so thats why R Kelly isnt in jail.

The only people upset about that rule are most likely grown ass adults trying to prey on underaged teens. And they'd need Aaliyah's parents permission to get married, which they didn't have, annulling their marriage. This man isn't in jail because people didn't speak up at the right time. 16 minutes ago, Florin said: If R Kelly had sex with someone that didnt have the age of consent or didnt give the consent, he should go to jail. Im not talking about other situations. :)) they should update the law. If that was the case with Aaliyah, he should have been prosecuted. Why he was not? SharkmanthaC 114,698
Cases like this, the statute of limitations should not be considered. I imagine he was never prosecuted for what happened with Aaliyah is because she never spoke up or maybe no one else did when it happened. (I can see money being given to quiet people.) It doesn't matter if Aaliyah was consenting to this, I do not care how "mature" a teenager may seem. This is a ridiculous argument, anyone past their teenage years can tell you how immature you were at that age. R. Kelly was an adult and he knew what he was doing. (I know most posts weren't making this argument, but I saw a few.) Not to mention, there have been other victims. Not sure what happened there either. It all just makes me sick...he needs to be locked up and never see the light of day again so he can't do this to anyone else. she/her/hers

She willingly got in that studio and recorded a track with rape undertones. She willing performed with him at an awards show in a sexual way. She willingly declared she loved R. Kelly on X Factor. She willingly filmed a gross music video with him. She did everything because she wanted to. Gaga obviously knew about the rumors and accusations beforehand because they weren’t just rumblings in the music industry. At that point the public had heard of it as well. What happened was that people decided they didn’t care so Gaga decided she didn’t care. End of story. It is and will always be a stain in her career but she’s human and she’s allowed to make mistakes big and small. She’s learned from it and that’s all she can really do now. But y’all have to stop lying to yourselves that Gaga didn’t want to work with him. It's fairly disappointing, yes, because we hold our queen to such high standards but we also can't forget she was, what?, 23? at the time and wasn't exactly on her best mindset. and also I'm pretty sure the label was thirsty for that hit (which DWUW is) so it really affected her. I don't know who's given anywho a free pass but it's not me. the problem is Gaga is not used to collaborating with trash tho so her rep looks way more tarnished from it then other artists (such as the likes of whom you mentioned) would. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
