Gaga’s “messy” dancing

I think that many of the people that call Gaga’s dancing “messy” or bad don’t get the idea behind her choreographies. The reason I say that is because Gaga’s choreos are different then your typical routines because you typical pop star routines require all dancers including the artist, to dance at once and on time. Gaga also has some of this on time routines but a lot of the times the idea behind her dance routines is for every dancer to be doing a different thing in a way that tells a story.  She also often uses herself and her dancers to create shapes or objects. For example when one of her dancers was using her as a guitar during the Super Bowl. Or when the dancers made a wave out of Gaga during Enigma. This often looks silly or weird but it fits Gaga. In other words Gaga’s dance routines are all about theater. The only problem here is that most pop fans expect the typical “cool” dance routines where everyone does the same moves at once just for the sake of dancing to the music.

Idk if I agree with this. She was a really good dancer live between 2008-2012 with very smooth choreo, but since then she can’t keep up well which is obviously not her fault. At least her voice improved to make up for it.

Gaga's not afraid to do moves that'll be "unflattering" or not sexy because she is theatre and would rather tell a story than worry about looking her most sexually appealing every split second but we can't ignore her health and the concerns that comes along with it.  We do not want her stomping out routines that are too demanding on her body that could help in flaring up her fibro.

There was nothing wrong with her choreo, she's still finding her feet on this tour and her dancers could do with better positioning at certain points but these are all points that will be addressed in due time.

I agree with you. All I am saying is that sometimes people show weird dance routines that Gaga does as proof that she is messy or bad even though looking weird and wild was the intention.

Oh yeah, I totally agree.

For example, the circle hop thing during Americano at the BTWBall... looks ridiculous on video zoomed in but live it looked great!  People gotta remember, these choreos are for stages... not zoomed in videos!

My only complaints is that sometimes they're a bit too campy and tacky. I understand that her brand is a bit campy but girl those liftings are too inelegant and screams cheap production.

Tbh if I look at the dancers they also look weird and that’s because I honestly don’t think richy does that great of work. Like G.U.Y., tf is with the armpit waft during the second chorus? It doesn’t look cute or sexy, it looks bizarre and in an accidental way not intentional to provoke discussion.
