Unpopular opinion but both ladies mention each other a lot whenever it’s convenient to them so the narrative that one or the other is “obsessed” is strange.

I still don’t think they are enemies. i believe they’re civil with each other

They have mutual respect and that’s all that matters. I think Madonna’s team is more intimidated by Gaga’s Haus more than anything.

girl, Madonna literally did say this in an interview with rolling stone three years ago

"The only time I ever criticized Lady Gaga was when I felt like she blatantly ripped off one of my songs."

Alright I'll accept that. I just really feel like the only people who even think about the 2 of these artists in the same sentence are the fans.

Madonna isn't losing sleep. Gaga isnt losing sleep. I have said this in another forum, but for somebody people seem to dislike so much ..it sure does get talked about literally once a week if not daily.

I think its funny because I'm thrilled knowing I have bigger things to do than worry over Madonna and Gaga and 2 songs that are both past their prime.

Madonna has never had problems with up and coming artists, quite the contrary

This, to me, is the complete rundown that's usually simplified to only one or two episodes:

Gaga was compared to Madonna from day one for a reason: her approach to music, fashion, interviews and performance was reminiscent of the Madonna peak days, and Gaga even acknowledged that herself many times from the beginning. In her earliest interviews she consistently mentions Madonna next to Bowie as part of her biggest inspirations.

You also can't forget that Gaga and Madonna had a very friendly relationship prior to the whole BTW incident. There's that typewriter interview of 2010 (or 2009, don't remember exactly) where Gaga literally says Madonna has been nicer to her than most of the celebrities she's met :rip:They did SNL together where they made fun of the whole competition element themselves :chica: Additionally, Madonna was asked about Gaga multiple times in interviews and she praised her consistently with no shade in sight.

Where it all went wrong, clearly, was with BTW. Gaga wrongly claimed that Madonna's "people" had approved of the song and its message, and much "BTW = EY" stuff spread worldwide for months, so you can't pretend that Madonna brought that up herself: the reason that interviewer asked so many questions about BTW was because of the generally accepted idea that BTW was a copy of EY. Madonna's "reductive" line was highlighted out of that infamous interview (sad, since Madonna also said she did not feel like Gaga copied her act: a part that was only aired in the full version, which did not go viral) and Gaga jumped on it, playing the victim by remaining silent :interestinga:

Madonna obviously noticed that the interview's viral moment was actually beneficial for her promotion of her era and incorporated the controversy into an act of her show which was all about the ironies of pop culture (a layer almost nobody understood) to get more people to talk about her and her show, while at the same time making sure that people did not seriously think she hated Gaga (as she mentioned to a crowd in a viral video: "I love Lady Gaga, I really do"). She then invited Gaga to perform with her, which Gaga declined, due to touring schedule problems (according to her manager, since Gaga refused to respond to the invitation herself).

After a period of silence, Gaga made two horrifying statements about Madonna in two separate interviews, reigniting the now calmed feud: she claimed indirectly that Madonna had no soul in an interview, and insultingly remarked that if she were Madonna, she'd make more of an effort to help up and coming artists :air: (this is the episode most Monsters leave out, for obvious reasons) Madonna never responded.

The only time Madonna has mentioned Gaga since was in an interview already quoted above in which she simply stated that she had no malice towards Gaga, but simply felt that BTW specifically was a rip-off of EY :vegas:  Gaga did not respond to this event, instead reigniting the feud once more in a radio interview for Joanne, indirectly (but definitely deliberately) claiming that Madonna was a control freak who did not have the musical talent to write songs on her own. Madonna did not respond.

So, no. Gaga was highly active in keeping the feud alive, and Madonna actually did less in total to keep it going compared to her. While with Madonna we only have one slightly negative remark (which is, in truth, no different than Gaga claiming Katy and Nicki ripped off her fashion looks and performance ideas), with Gaga we have plenty of personal digs :laughga: So let's keep that in mind, shall we?

Girl she literally said that when she heard Born This Way first time it sounded familiar and it got her thinking AKA she basically said it’s a copy and it sounds like Express Yourself.

Chile, she could hate her guts  why do we care ? It's mostly between their fans who are bitter as hell and don't want to let this sh*t go ... they are both grown *ss women, if they don't want to get along that's their problem. They are both living their best lives, minding their businesses, try to do the same ...

Why can't you say the same to Madonna when Gaga's the one speaking 'cause she also didn't responded? :triggered:

And your simplified perspective forgot the time when Madonna made BTW/EY mashup plus SHE'S NOT ME

Madonna has all the time to clarify the "reductive" phrase to her fans but she just let it spill letting Gaga be roasted til now :excuseu:
