But whether they like it or not, all celebrities are role models. Don’t try to hide it. It comes with the job description. You live by the fame you die by the fame.

Again, unless it's in the contract, it does not... If anything, it's in the job description to do morally reprehensible sh*t considering how many celebrities have engaged in activities frowned upon by the public...

Im not saying she needs not censor her art. Its not about her art Its about her personal life and the message thats she transfer the millions of her followers

And if she doesn't want people talking or critizing her personal life she shouldn't share it with everybody

She clearly knows her man in controversial but doesn't care and is ruining that poor girl that he raped life

And its not about a younger audience she isn't a good rolemodel for any audience

And just because she is a doesn't want to be a rolemodel does that mean we are not allowed to criticize her? Last time I checked we ar still not living in the land of Kim-Yung-Minaj

Why not then? Isn't the message conveyed in her work more important than her personal life and whatever message that's conveying? Why does that get a pass? Again, whichever way you spin that argument, it makes no sense and is just an attempt to shift responsibility...

That wasn't a question at hand tho - the comment I replied to specifically mentioned kids, and my argument still is that it's up to parents to instil moral compass into a child, not a celebrity who has nothing to do with said child... Criticise all you want, but keep in mind her personal life is ultimately her business, and don't pull out the lamest argument people have ever come up with...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Yes I agree that parents are responsible too but that doesn't mean that they can control/protect their child 24/7 and children also learn from other persons then there parents and that includes celebs

lets just say we can agree to disagree

I will pray for you

Celebrities who think their only boss is the person who signs their cheques are in denial. Public opinion determines how much advertisers are willing to spend on a celebrity to promote something. Ignoring the court of public opinion- especially in the age of social media - is career suicide.

Saying “I’m not a role model” is basically saying “Do as I say, not as I do”. It’s outing yourself as a money hungry hypocrite and social media will react accordingly, not to mention advertisers.

In that case everything should be censored... Cuz god forbid a kid sees something other people do that puts a bad thought in their head, can't let that happen - it's not like positive reinforcement and open dialogue from a parent over a course of their upbringing is actually more effective at building character or anything - nah, once that bad thought is planted in their head, they will start doing drugs, having sex left and right and will probably die honestly... and it's all because a celebrity who doesn't even know them didn't think about them hard enough - RIP kids, very sad :gaycat:

I mean, good for them, go advertisers? I wasn't disputing any of that, I just don't see how someone in the public eye not wanting to be a role model is such a travesty... Also wouldn't it also be hypocritical to become a role model just so you'd be more bankable and get more money? Kinda, two conflicting arguments in your message there...

I only have one point, you are the one splitting it into two. You are the one denying that celebrities are role models. I never denied that celebrities can be hypocrites- whose point is that anyway? Like i don’t care why someone becomes a celebrity. I’m saying once you become a celebrity, you also become a role model. It’s not a choice. This is so basic like why can’t you comprehend it?

bloody g

I think Nicki needs professional help in so many aspects of her life, and she has been needing for a long time now.

It's worrying seeing all these, no normal person would ever do or say or act how she does. I hope she improves soon.

Because you haven't provided a single argument for it that would actually make sense? Why can't you actually explain why that's the case if it's so basic? :laughga:

You didn't, you just keep saying the same thing over and over  - that when you become famous you just happen to become a role model somehow, by default... You haven't actually given an explanation as to why -  again, your assertion makes no sense, so unless you can provide and actual argument, I'll just leave it at that - it's nonsense

Because that’s one of the side-effects of becoming famous. You automatically inherit the responsibility of setting an example for those who follow you. It sucks, it really does because most people who attain fame didn’t necessarily want that side-effect, but that doesn’t chance the fact that drones of people- including many underaged individuals who are extremely malleable- will now look up to you and follow your footsteps. Nobody made it this way, it’s just one of the downsides of becoming a celebrity.

I get that a lot of people EXPECT this, but again, it makes no sense and I think it's wrong that people think expecting it is acceptable... First of all, because parents play a MUCH larger role in shaping a child...

Second of all, cuz... I mean, when I think back to when I was a kid - I was REALLY into Britney, Beyonce and Christina... like, really REALLY into their work... digging up ANYTHING I could get my 10 year old hands on... When Britney had her episode and shaved her head - it didn't make me want to shave my head... Toxic was my alltime favourite video, yet I managed to not grind up against adult male crotches until I turned 20, as great as the temptation sometimes was (unrelated)... In fact my engagement with musicians I was obsessed with when I was a child never really left their work - I always tried to pull from their work, not their persons, and when I pulled something, it never went so far as to change my behaviour drastically... So how much influence does a celebrity have overall, really?

Third of all, if you're gonna make the argument that it's because underage individuals are so easily influence (which I don't think is the case, at least not by celebrities - people around them play a significantly larger role) - it brings me back to the point that every piece of work made by a famous person should be censored and kid friendly then, even if an artist never set out to make that kind of work to begin with... in which case you should take waaaaay more issues with this:

...than anything Nicki has done with her personal life...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

I keep repeating myself and yet somehow you’re still here? My point is self-explanatory and I’m not going to overcomplicate something so commonsensical. Just because you don’t believe in role models doesn’t mean others don’t.

Cuz you haven't provided an actual argument... Its not commonsense, it's nonsense and the fact that you have no other way to argue for it other than repeat the same statement again and again kinda proves my point more than anything - you have nothing... I never said I didn't believe in role models btw, I said one isn't obligated to provide one if they're famous...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!
