Gohan 16,364
First of all I want to clarify that I'm not justifying anyone's racism, homophobia or any of the sort, I don't know if they are different persons now, but we have to give them the benefit of the doubt, unless they don't feel sorry about it (Kevin Hart, I see you) I'm just telling you all how it REALLY was back then. The world we know today wasn't as colorful and joyful as it is today, there used to be a LOT of LGBT-phobia even after 2011. 2011, why is that year very important? Because Gaga, Katy, Ke$ha, Macklemore, Xtina and many other were releasing ANTHEMS and they were PREACHING everywhere (heck, I even remember back then people got bored of Gaga because she was just this speech and speech and preach girl promoting Born This Way). They started a movement that got its results years after and the fight is still on. And it gets better of course, but we can't deny the fact that people were raised with prejudice, hatred and centuries of supremacism. I used to be homophobic because I was surrounded by homophobes and I felt out of place. It was until I realized that it was WRONG and you know what? I've changed. I'm even gay myself. I grew from it, I've learnt, we all did, we all do. It wasn't always colorful, but now we can enjoy more colors and the "palette" of acceptance keeps expanding. tryna go ask Alice, tryna catch that rabbit

elijahfan 25,928
It's also very convenient to be sorry and say you've changed once you've become a public personality Some of those "old tweets" aren't that old, tbh. I believe people can change and become educated and better, but it's very hard to know who's being honest and who's just doing reputation management. All in all, it was stupid in the first place to say things like that on social media.

REALITY 76,029
I just don't get why it's become a trend to dig up people's old tweets. People grow, people change, move the **** on! What does "exposing" a celebrity do for you anyway? It doesn't help anyone, it doesn't help any sort of social movement, and it just makes people look petty. I'm not trying to defend homophobic, racist, sexist, xenophobic, etc., etc., people, but what I am defending is that they have the right to change and grow as a person. Plus, many times they're meant to be taken as jokes. I'm not trying to say homophobic, racist, sexist, xenophobic, etc. jokes are funny, but what I am saying is that it shouldn't be taken so seriously. If you want to fight homophobes, racists, etc., then fight it where it really matters. Don't try to be digging up celebrity's old tweets when the reality is they've probably changed their thinking/behavior. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Bambino 24,164
People change and everybody has a past and everybody deserves a second chance. Each one of you must've said or done something in their past that they're probably not proud of and imo that's normal.
latikofficial 829
Just because it was normalized doesn't make it okay, and they still need to own their actions and change their behaviors. The lack of accountability contributes to ideologies that get people beaten, tortured, and killed on the daily. Spoiler OT: 39 minutes ago, Gohan said: They started a movement that got its results years after and the fight is still on. I wouldn't go so far as to say that any of the people mentioned ~started~ a movement. Contributed to an already existing movement through visibility and advocacy? Yes. But let's not erase the decades of fighting that LGBTQ activists (Particularly trans women of color) did to make sure that they could have their platforms. uwu
Lord Temptation 11,209
Too bad. If you’re careless enough to say dumb shiz in public then expect it come bite you back one day People have the right to use everything you SAY or WRITE against you This is called karma. There's something even called "pink money" where a celebrity jumps on the "trendy" movement to gain money/free promotion from it. tryna go ask Alice, tryna catch that rabbit
Dutch 90,649
Just now, Gohan said: I know, but are we able to change the past events? No. Only the future, the present. It was "normal" behavior back then. Now it's not so much. But saying; 'it was in the past, you are forgiven because it was normal when you said that stuff', isn't helping the issue we still have in the present day tho. Confronting people with their words does. There is a reason why we are still bringing up events from 100 years ago and judge them, because people STILL didn't learn.
