I hope she continues with the "urban" sound. Her last two albums weren't targeted to white gays and pop music fans. It was closer to her roots which I love.

So her albums prior to "Beyoncé "were targeting white gays?

I thought "music for white gays" was pop-dance and lana del rey songs lol! The definition for it changes according to who gives it.

Not necessarily targeting white gays but her solo albums (minus DIL) were more towards the pop/easy to swallow music with no undertones about race and injustice. when I refer to her last two albums, I’m talking about lemonade and EIL which have a more urban root aimed more towards the black community and she discusses issues relating to the black community in the music. Most white gays don’t relate to that message therefore it’s not going to be the songs they run to first.

So people can't dislike urban music because that makes them racist... lol

What is urban music tho? Hip hop? Rap? R&b? All of those?

Beyoncé doesn’t exclusively make any of those. Let’s face it - “urban” is code for black.

And i’m Inclined to not give you the benefit of the doubt when you calls her HUSBAND and father to 3 children her “baby daddy”... lol

idk, ask the Grammys, there are whole categories for urban music.

So if I say I don't like.. let's say, reggaeton I am being racist towards latin people? if I don't like Kpop I am being racist towards asians? If I don't like flamenco I am being racist towards gypsies? If.......

Like, start playing the race card only when it IS convenient, cuz y'all are making it loose all its importance.

Oh, and beyonce latest albums (mostly LEMONADE) have been pretty much those genres. And I love them btw, specially self-titled. And there's tons of people who love Beyonce when she was doing pop and dislike the new style.

Idk, maybe people who don't like Joanne because it is not pop enough are racist towards some group too? People can like pop music, and don't be here for other genres which they don't like. I don't like heavy metal, wow.

I didn't call anything to anyone, I just was commenting on the part of people being racist for not liking urban music.

When did we start using the Grammys as the benchmarch of non-racism/bigotry lol?

Also, if you use the word “gypsies”, yes, that’s hella racist of you to say lmfao?!

Bro, I never called you out? I believe I was responding to another member’s post when you inserted yourself.

I never said anything you’re accusing me of saying? I said another member’s post - AS A WHOLE - felt racially charged. The wording, context, and tone of his post felt racially-charged TO ME and made ME uncomfortable and thus I let him know accordingly.

If you’re going to speak out of turn, at minimum you have to come correct.

OT: I’m excited for new solo music. Sorry if you are not excited. Maybe find something that interests you instead so you can spread positivity and productivity.

just say black

Urban is much more specific to the musical style im speaking of.  Black would be too vague.  Black isn’t a genre, actually.  So that’s why I didn’t say black.  :oprah:

Considering her mom’s family is from Louisiana I’d love a jazz album from her. If anyone can bring Jazz back to the GP it would be Beyoncé. But obviously I wouldn’t want it to be the NY kind of jazz, I want something with more soul/rhythm, oh and a Gaga feature too. :kara:

Someone says they don't like urban music and they're immediately deemed racist for not liking black music, black artists and black people in general... Maybe some people should re-evaluate their perspective and not put everything in a race-context :laughga:

Oh wow someone said you’re racist because you don’t like black people in general? Oh wow, the world we live in these days, oh wow.

Did I say I am not interested on new beyonce music? I own all of her albums so yeah. I was just saying that people can not like urban music without being racists.

btw, I live in Spain, one of the countries with the biggest community of gypsies in the world.... and you know what? I don't know what else to call them, because that's what they call themselves here, that's how they wanna be called by everyone here, and that's how everyone calls them. Because for them it is like calling a French French, an Italian Italian or a German German.  it is not racist nor pejorative. you will hear them all on TV, on streets and I even know gypsies (I am a teacher an I teach their kids) and that's what they call themselves. Things change from one country to another, so nope, I am not racist for calling them gypsies.

So, take into account that people here come from different countries, and what you consider racist because of your culture or history, is not racist in other places because it was never meant to be an insult or to humiliate any group of people.

I only said that I never spoke about the "baby daddy" or whatever he called them, I was just pointing out that not liking the kind of music beyonce is doing now doesn't make you racist, even if you don't like any type of tipically or originally black music, that's not racist.

And the urban thing, I was just pointing out that there's a genre called that, Beyonce releases music under that genre, she gets nominated and gets awards for that genre (doesn't seem too bothered by that, btw)so...
