People have used racism when hating on her even on here. Cue back to that guy calling her an "ape" on the charts thread a couple months ago. But yeah, not everyone that doesn't like her is racist. But that's common sense right?

I guess it is because black kids used to have little to zero access to public education and they had to work at a young age, therefore they couldn't finish school. So it makes it a dark/deeper joke.

I do agree it should stop. Ditto for coming for Gaga's looks because she isn't a conventional beauty. Or Adele's weight, etc

I'm not trying to imply that Monsters are responsible, but I just want to use this opportunity to say we should NOT get involved in stuff like this. It was fine (sort of) 5 years ago, but today Gaga is a legend in the making who is in her own lane. Her fanbase should reflect that.

back to your topic sweetie, I don't hate Bey, I listen to her album up to BDay, I think she's great and everything but not the best, she has many flaws and many fake fierce acting, she became a stereotype of herself, like a type cast static character of a strong black woman, but a strong black woman is not what she's showing, it's more than "hey light somebody getting fired".. when I saw her at the elevator, I wondered, where is this strong woman?

Well I'm not a Beyonce fan.  I have never heard any of her full albums. I heard a few of her songs and I don't actively try to search for any of her stuff.  

Is it because she's black thats why I don't like her?  No.

I just don't give her time and that's ok cause I don't have to like everyone and every music out there.  We all have preferences and favorites.  It's as simple as that.

Both sides have a point. 

There ARE racists who criticise Beyonce as a person.

But there are also NON-RACISTS who criticise her as a performer.

I think a big part of the problem is the way technology forces people to use language they don’t normally speak in. Messages can come across as more (or less) malicious than they were intended.

Personally I used to ADORE Beyonce, especially up till Sasha Fierce. I still love her old music but I feel like her last three albums have all been more designed to get the media worshipping her, which I think is peoples main criticism.

All successful artists who have dealt with racism as stars, and beyonce is no exception.

Yes, some Bey stans use the word "racist" out of place, but you should also be aware that there is a massive chunk of the US (a much greater population than gay stan twitter) that watches Fox News and have internalized cultural racism that does infact affect Beyonce.

It's really typical of modern society that if you don't like someone, it must be assumed that it's for a really deeply prejudiced reason. In other words, disadvantaged groups are not encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions, neither should they change their attitudes or strive to improve themselves, but advantaged groups must? Yeah, no. There are many valid reasons for disliking somebody and some of us are just more upfront about them and don't bury our heads in the sand. If it's not the same standards, it's not equal. Same standards or GTFO.

I have many valid reasons for disliking Beyonce. Her music is ok at best, her personality and way of conducting her career, however, is...questionable, to say the least. I'd have a strong guess that she's a narcissist. I'm honestly surprised she has maintained fans all these years who seem very oblivious to her clearly fake personality and greed.

Tbh its understandable, there is not reason to hate her at all. You may not enjoy her music but hate her? Nah

It just shows how different minds work. I can't think of one reason why you would like her as a person (in terms of the personality we've seen in the media, that is). I could give you a list as long as my arm of her questionable choices she made. But here's a run-down of the most obvious: cutting off and replacing her old bandmates from DC and even saying "all of the bad seeds are now out of DC" despite claims that they were all friends, her need to push herself to the forefront in DC so that she could ride off into the sunset with a glittering solo career and leave her friends in the dust, stealing and making small changes to other people's songs for inclusion on her own album without credit that this was a cover (she even said live on stage once that she wrote Irreplaceable despite Ne-Yo writing the song for her), she's stolen music video concepts and live performance concepts from a whole host of artists, she's made her tours almost completely American and European centred and doesn't seem to think her international fans matter anymore and she seems too think she's too good to promote and do interviews. She hasn't done a promotional tv appearance in the UK since 2011 and there was a time she would do all that stuff and we have always been a major market for her.

That's the shortened version. As I said above, I don't know how she's maintained fans after all this time. It's only accepted because it's a celebrity doing it. Unlike many, I don't treat celebrities as if they're above the rest of us. If a normal civilian acted like this, they would have been out on their ass.

By comparison, white artists are having to work like dogs to get even a fraction of this stuff and they are under so many controls by their labels, including being forced to change and getting their albums delayed because they can't produce a #1. Every year, I see highly talented white artists not getting great reviews, not getting promoted, not getting nominated, just not getting recognised for work that is amazing meanwhile so many black artists, who are putting out some of the most mediocre, generic albums are being praised to the heavens. As is often the case, what you're told to believe and what's actually the reality are two very different things.

I criticse her as a performer and a person and I'm not a racist. Why is anyone who criticises her as a person a racist? There are many valid reasons to dislike her as a person that have nothing to do with her race and could be applied to anyone of any race.

That may be the case but despite that...Beyonce's albums are always one of the biggest sellers of the year, if not the biggest seller. And she's had a lot of hit singles. And mega million grossing tours, some of which are the most successful in the world. And she's the second most awarded woman of all time at the Grammys and is in tied 6th place for the most awarded artist ever. And her albums and performance ability has been praised for years. So, when all's said and done, how much is racism truly affecting her? Judging by these stats, barely enough to make it worthy of a mention. When it comes to the music industry, racists have very little power over who becomes successful and praised, probably because the industry is such a liberal place.
