Green Book is just another case of Driving Miss Daisy to me. I liked the film but it left me uncomfortable with how superficial it was when it came to the way they handled racism. It's sad that other films that tackle the same issue with much better comprehension and filmmaking artistry, like BlacKkKlansman and Blindspotting (which was INCREDIBLY well-made and hard-hitting), are getting ignored in favor of this film.

Look at the twitter comments. NO ONE is satisfied with Green Book winning :air:

I wonder if the backlash will be enough for it to lose the oscars, cuz it's the frontrunner at this point. We'll have to see if this will continue until the voting begins or if it will die down

Well, now that ASIB is no longer the Oscar front-runner people will finally stop calling it "overhyped" and stuff like that. Everyone agrees that it deserved better. (I still believe the SAG awards may surprise us)

Meanwhile the other favorites (especially Green Book) will BURN in backlash and I'm totally here for it. That movie is just tragic.

Agree.

It ain't over until it's over.

Stranger things have happened.

You know why? Cuz it‘s easier for white people/the Academy to sing kumbayah about racism and say „let‘s move on“ instead of acknowledging the fact that almost everything in their lives is coated with a thin, transluscent schmear of racism. The most important thing is that things stay the same (or get even better for them). Justice, equality & responsibility second. Wealth, pride, status & ego first.
