I definitely get what you are saying. I didn't really think Joanne was very authentically Lady Gaga either. To me, it was written through the lens of her family as it related to them. So, maybe ARTPOP is the last era where I feel she really "felt" what she wrote and also you can tell in her performances as well. Just my two cents...

So you mean 4 years between a LG album? Yeah no, that’s to much... 2019 will be the latest. Why not use the hype around her right now.

It did not recieve a proper album cycle treatment, with live performances, videos etc. It's more of a side project. She should be talking about a new single by now, especially to promote the residency. Gaga even it made it very clear that her and her character are very different musically, hence why we should be excited about new Lady Gaga music and what she has to say, not what a character that was written for her has to say. 

Realistically, I think Enigma should be an album performed at the residency, followed by a break for Gaga to hopefully start a family. Maybe she'll write us a musical in her down time and her comeback will be on Broadway winning a Tony.

I’m soooo down for new Gaga music, just as much as the next Monster. But I sincerely doubt she’s dropping a new album by the end of this year. I feel like, if ANYTHING, she’ll debut a new song at the show like she did with The Cure at Coachella. 

I mean, I’m really not that hungry for new music from her. I’m still loving the ASIB soundtrack, and I feel like her career at the moment is still focused on the film for the most part (upcoming award shows and such). New music probably isn’t a top priority, and it’s like OP said, she shouldn’t risk putting out a new single/album and risk it flopping to prevent her awards season buzz to die down. 

Off topic, kinda: Do you guys think she’ll perform ASIB songs at Enigma? If anything, probably Shallow, but I really think it would be awesome to hear the pop songs live (HM, WDYDT?, HBF), maybe ARUTW.

TBH i trust Michael Bearden way more than Gaga's producers ... cough Mark Nilan cough DJWS

The only thing that doesn't sit right with me is that she's been working on new songs but these may just be demo or whatever but i don't see Gaga sitting on the songs for a whole year and not release them. That, and the duration of the first Vegas leg which goes on for an entire year. If she released a new album midway through, she'd have to revamp the entire show if she wanted to integrate the new songs into her set. Or perhaps she will release something Summer 2019 and Enigma is completely independent from her next album project. 

I do think the best time too kickstart a new era is after the Oscars, but that would simply mean that she won't be performing bulk of the album in concert until December 2019 for the second half of Vegas leg. That just seems a little strange and un-Gaga like, you know the album-tour cycle that we're so used to.

 

Anyway, most of us here agree that Enigma will be come kind of "best of Gaga show". What i'm excited though is seeing Nicola interpreting ARTPOP, Joanne and Ally aesthetic.

You just contradicted yourself though. You do have to forget what she’s said about it because she constantly changes her mind and goes back on her word. She releases when she’s ready, and gauges interest and excitement beforehand. 

But if you look at every other release, she started adopting a new look right before the lead single. The purple hair COULD mean something, but what I’m saying is that if we were getting a full new era, I feel that she wouldn’t be as invested in Hollywood atm, and her appearance would have shifted. Just like it did for BTW, AP, Joanne and even C2C.

If there is no album it’d be high key lame. We want fresh music and she’s been working on the ASIB since she was working on Joanne.
