You'll care if you're falsely accused of a crime and your internet usage or private messages are used as evidence against you 

You'll care if this information becomes available to your employers in the future 

You'll care if a black mirro-esque / china-esque social rating system is introduced where your past internet usage is used against you 

 

We need to get this right now before it becomes a bigger problem.  You should worry about your information being sold or accessed by people you aren't aware of, it can come back to bite you
