Songs have context for the people who sang them. I'd still think it was bad whoever sang it but the story behind it is appalling and teaming up for this song was an incredibly irresponsible thing to do and sent a terrible message to any abuse victim out there that it's ok to get back with your abuser if they provide good sex. I honestly do not know how Rihanna still maintained fans after this considering how much they hated Chris for what they did to her. Not only did she retroactively feature him on this song but almost the whole album was about him and the one after that too. Suffice to say if she did that in this day and age of #MeToo, her career might have ended.
