similar to Christmas songs

I came here to say that.

I think that in a way it has to be bad because it's a shallow, uninteresting subject. It's just "hey I was born on this day X years ago, yeah !". You can't really develop anything around it. If there's actually a story, something more built around it, then it's not a "birthday song", just a song that has birthday as one of the themes.

Birthday songs aren’t necessarily supposed to be extremely thoughtful and deep. For most a birthday is supposed to be fun and loose and most of these songs deliver that message. :nick:

I'm not asking them to be deep and meaningful but it's possible for a fun song to be good. I never got the idea behind fun songs being synonymous with good songs. A fun song doesn't automatically equal a good song. I sometimes think artists are just using cliche fun phrases to make us think we're having a good time as well.

Chris Brown is ironically only the icing on the cake. The brain-destroying chorus with a beat that drills into your head like a migraine until your skull cracks plus the endless repetition of the word "cake" just makes it not just unlistenable but actual torture material. There's a reason why this song is pretty much erased from every music listening platform on this earth.

Glad someone else thinks so. That song genuinely sounds like something a torturer would use to get information out of someone by blasting it on repeat for hours through headphones while their victim was strapped to a chair. The whole tune is completely unlistenable, it's a physical assault on the ears.

people celebrate their birthday with hot sex give em a break xx

Fair enough, but when the 2 people who sang on it were an abuser and their victim, it makes it repulsive. Songs have context for the people who sang them. I'd still think it was bad whoever sang it but the story behind it is appalling and teaming up for this song was an incredibly irresponsible thing to do and sent a terrible message to any abuse victim out there that it's ok to get back with your abuser if they provide good sex. I honestly do not know how Rihanna still maintained fans after this considering how much they hated Chris for what they did to her. Not only did she retroactively feature him on this song but almost the whole album was about him and the one after that too. Suffice to say if she did that in this day and age of #MeToo, her career might have ended. She always gets away with everything and that's what's always bugged me about her.

All y'all virgins or something? Why would y'all make an issue of sexual birthday songs??:lmao:

Why can't y'all let some adults live their life, damn! :lmao:

It's not like we're against the idea of a sexual birthday song, we're against the idea of bad sexual birthday songs, especially ones that star an abuser and their victim.

I'm not saying it has to be all about birthdays, it just has to feature the word "birthday" it in the title and mention birthdays at some point in it. My point is that even when it does contain vague references to birthdays, it's still terrible!

I think it can be good if it just references a birthday at some point. I love Again Again for example, but I know it's not popular among the fans.

Katy’s is a bop and Rihanna’s is pure TRASH :derpga:

Selenas is actually a decent bop too.
