Yeah, I guess that is more what I meant. No disrespect to Björk herself. I just cringe when people hype things up and make them larger than life. Like okay, I get it, she's a quirky artist and does innovative things. That doesn't mean I have to worship the ground she walks on. I like a few of her projects but she isn't the ultimate authority on music to me.

Without Kate Bush, there would be no Björk, Tori Amos, Florence Welch, Madonna, and many other female pop stars who followed in her vein of theatrical, dark pop music performance art. Gaga herself has probably been inspired by Kate and just hasn't mentioned it in any interviews. Kate is someone I can truly stan for and is the epitome of someone with class and integrity who has no pretentious bone in her body.

Björn preceded Kate by a few years! Even still, I wouldn’t say ether artist is pretentious themselves. People just ascribe the artistic loftiness you mention to them. Imo just enjoy an artist on your own terms regardless of anything. Gaga was so pretentious for a hot minute but I just appreciated her stuff as it resonated with me. People get *way* too overworked with what a certain artist says about how “refined” they are. Just love the music, y’all.

Kate Bush’s first album came out in 1978. Bjork’s first album was when she was in the band the Sugarcubes and that came out in 1987. Her solo debut was in 1993.

Kate came out way before Bjork. Even Bjork has admitted in many interviews that Kate was a big influence on her music.

They are a performer and full round artist. And make up also requires a certain level of talent and artistry, let's not.

(like someone commented above, I think they're just mad Gaga released Joanne, that's it)

More like how she toned down after the ARTPOP era.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.

Not that it matters but Björk's first band (a gothic rock, post-punk group) was formed in 1983
