Rihanna: California kind bed was pop rock; man down was reggae; only girl/S&M were eletro pop; Rude boy was dancehall; bitch better have my money was trap; love on the brain is soul-inspired, this is what you came for was dance, wait your turn was hip hop... :)

Beyoncé also did soul with "heaven",  reggae with "hold up" and I heard her "daddy lessons" song was quite country. There are surely more genres in her catalogues but I don't know much about her music. ;)

Ok, I love reading about genres and the list is interesting, but

1. There is a difference between a pop song with a certain influence from a certain genre and the artist venturing in a genre. Cheek to Cheek was completely outside of pop. Rihanna for instance has no album like this, everything from her is pop-based or R&B based.

2. Genres are not definitive terms and most of them overlap. For instance Dancehall and Raggae are two genre sisters. Therefore, it's kinda pointless to use a countable measure to list them and compare artists. Not to say you can inflate this number by adding similar genres or fusion genres.

3. To a certain extend, categorizing a song into genres is subjective. When a critic hears Motown, another hears swing. When someone hears acoustic pop, another one hears blues and so on. Remember that Gaga said Bloody Mary is avant-garde?

4. A genre list is ever evolving. If you keep searching, you will find more and more genres for the same song.

5. The list for Gaga is incomplete. It misses Rave (Partynauseous), Post-disco (the whole Born This Way album), Dancehall (Dancin' in Circles) and I'm pretty sure others too.

Wow, I had no idea Bey and Rihanna had done so many. I knew they were talented, but I had no idea that they are that versatile.

Yes, yes & yes

If singing with Metallica and The Rolling Stones and then doing The Sound Of Music tribute is not versatile, I dont know what it is

Of course it's subjective, and I'll agree that Gaga's list could have those added. That's fair.

Yeah, I think if you're not interested in an artist, you probably won't know hwo varied they are. Some people just know Gaga as a dance pop artist, but we stans know her for her variety.

Dont get me wrong, I am interested in them and listen to some of their music, I just haven't listened to all of it yet, so I don't know about all the genres they have done.

And yeah you're right, it's so sad when some people only remember Gaga for Poker Face or Bad Romance when she has done so much more than that. I once played Dope and Til It Happens To You to someone who only knew Poker Face (and her other early popular songs) and he was blown away because he didn't think Gaga was able to do that kind of music.

Yes she is. When you look at her career it’s very touching. She’s grown up with us and I’m so proud that she’s had the guts to do and try all the genres she has. Most artists don’t fully commit to a genre change but Gaga does.

For example: Watch Poker Face, then Watch the ASIB trailer.

Shes matures so much I love her lmao I’m fangirling rn idk why

May I Read You? 😎
