Some of you are too harsh with Gaga and overthink too much ...

Maybe it's because I'm already 25 and a lot of users here are much younger, but I really think *some* people in this forum are obsessed with over-analyzing her and her work. I get you are fans/stans and so am I, but I think it *might* be sometimes wasted time/energy. Gaga is a human being. Not more. Not less. There is no reason to glorify things, nor to demonize them. Every person, every artist is complex. And all people change with time. Constantly. Sometimes we are not even aware of it ourselves. Sometimes we lie to ourselves without realizing it. Nothing is black-white. I'm just a bit concerned when I read so many forum topics here, you are holding her to such a pedestral and critizise/analyze every single quote she is making, also old stuff she said years ago in the past and I'm not sure if this is needed, since Gaga herself will not join the discussion anytime soon and there's only room for speculation and I think it is often exaggerated and in that sense more toxic than healthy. I also hope she will never read in this forum tbh, it would make me sick if I was her and as sensitive as she is.

Just look at that “I ran from Stefani” thread, all she said is that she needed to remember the times she didn’t make yet and wasn’t very confident in herself and people are calling her a liar for the times she said Gaga and Stefani are the same person

I don't know, this is a discussion forum about a pop star, not a fansite or a bashsite. I think we're doing just fine. Those threads you referred to were filled with interesting conversations and arguments for once, from both the "positive" and "negative" side. Why not appreciate that instead of treating it as something bad? Until it gets personal, it's no holds barred imo. That's what's fun about online conversing.

From my perspective, there's as much unjust criticism of Gaga as there is unjust excuses being made for her. The people who want both camps to shut it maybe just need to consider getting out of here. Maybe you just don't want to discuss her at all, who knows.

Personally I think it is ok to sometimes analyze a popstar and point out both the good and bad things. You can't always baby her and if she says something that provokes conversations and debates it can be a good thing imo. That being said sometimes some ppl cross lines and I totally agree with you that when it gets rude / mean then it becomes too much. However a bit of criticism, analyzing etc.. is part of the nature of a fan base. It is what it is.

Maybe for a lot of fans these aren't harmless statements, because she's touching upon a very personal subject for them, i.e. Lady Gaga as a creation, as some-thing/one a lot of fans have organized their emotional and financial lives around (not defending that, just saying that's how it is)

Why is it so "bad" of them to feel personally attacked or disappointed when she seems to be (even if that's not true) tarnishing what we've been celebrating in previous years?

I'm not defending downright bashing of Gaga as a person, but sometimes I'm quite surprised by the lack of empathy in this fanbase, from one fan to another. It baffles me how so many of you are more willing to defend Gaga, some rich girl you'll never ever talk to or be close to, than the people you see here every day, and are fundamentally closer to...

So let's not police people around here. We're all here because we care about Gaga somehow, even if that's just intellectually. Let each other be or, if you seriously can't take differing opinions, then join a community of people where everyone thinks the same. I, for one, won't join you because that sounds boring as mother****ing **** to me

Maybe I analyze Gaga more than my friends but then I can easily make the same argument the other way around: I've seen many people here who treat Gaga nicer than they'd treat their friends if they'd pull the same **** she did

We all know nothing we say is gonna impact her life or career whatsoever. That doesn't mean it's not fun or gratifying to comment on it. That's what we all do in all parts of our lives, no? It's what I do anyway, and while I'm doing it I know my opinion isn't worth a rat's ass but if everyone knows that about their opinion then it's just fun to engage in conversations and stimulate each other.

That's how I see it anyway. Like, why is it so much more valuable to you to sit here and praise her all the time or something? That's not gonna affect her life or career any more than the garbage we spout

Because she’s not. Fans are somehow making this up in their minds. That’s possibly an example of the overthinking the OP is referring to.

I'd like to think my negativity is at least a little bit stimulating and not just plain "I hate her bye" (I'm sure many would disagree though) but I do understand that for a lot of people it's just not what they log in for.

So as one smart member told me in that thread: we'll probably never reach a consensus. But we can try to co-exist as best we can
