Angel Down Hate?

I had no idea fans hated Angel Down. It's actually in my Top 3 Joanne songs and never really read anything negative about it until now?

The only thing that I can say about it is that I have to be in the mood to listen to it, same with Dope and Til It Happens To You. These are sad songs where Gaga uses THAT type of voice where she drags it and sounds like she's in pain. All of these songs are really amazing and everything is great about them but they put me in a mood and it's just me but I don't listen to them that often when I think about listening to Gaga music.

You do know music is subjective, right? :poot:

Oh wow, that’s what I’ve been looking for all along! Thanks for enlightening me!

Even though it’s subjective, it’s very rare that I can’t give a reason why I do/don’t like something. After so much experience with music, you identify the qualities you like and the ones you don’t. I was asking which of them caused people to dislike the song.

It’s generally treated as the “eh” ballad of Joanne falling under MR and Joanne on people’s list, I often see it as the second worst after Come To Mama. It’s in my top 3 too

It's actually my fav song from Joanne. It's a perfect sad/dark melodic ballad, raw, emotional and with a clear message. I like the original version more because that production and her voice fits so perfect

I don't think I've seen Angle Down get any hate, it just tends to be over looked.

I think she was aiming for a Black Boys on Mopeds moment but came up a bit short. I appreciate the song, I'm glad she released it, but it's just a little too maudlin and theatrical for me to be genuinely moved by.

I just tend to like more upbeat music with a solid groove. Always have. I like Come to Mama when others don't for that reason, and it still has the same 'poetry' to its lyrics (IMO) than Angel Down has.

AD is too slow, too melancholy, too understated. It doesn't sit with me or capture my attention. I agree with SKANK (above) that it also seems a bit theatrical, and that she probably doesn't have the actual, personal connection to the shootings that inspired the songs as she does about her other ballads or even music in general.
