Batwings 12,866 Posted November 30, 2018 Share Posted November 30, 2018 As we all know, most if not all reality shows are not as real as they try to portray themselves, but if you know any juicy details about a reality show, share them here! I was a guest on an episode of one of Gordon Ramsay's US shows. Nearly everything that you're seeing is completely authentic. We weren't even prepped or coached beforehand. They literally just put us in front of the camera and started rolling. No directions, no instructions, nothing. I will say, though, that much of his angry personality is totally staged for TV. I got to meet him, and he was really nice. They also scout areas beforehand and ask if they want to be on the show, so it's not always a matter of people contacting the show for help. Other than that, though, it's very much true to form. I was obsessed with ANTM for years until the show started getting utterly ridiculous with stupid challenges and more focus on drama than actual modeling. I've read a lot about it since then, and with the exception of the first 2 or 3 seasons, basically every single aspect of the show is scripted, and even with that, it's still heavily edited. Even before auditioning begins, they usually have girls recruited for the show, and once they are finished with casting, they start coaching the girls to have a certain personality type (ex. the bitch, the naive country girl, the nerdy girl, the sweet girl, etc.). The girls are also coached to freak out every time they see Tyra. The photoshoots look like they're done very quickly, but they actually take HOURS. Also, some have said that the winner is picked by the sponsors before the show even begins. I used to really like Tyra Banks, but from everything I've read about her, she is a huge phony and total bitch behind the scenes. I remember reading when she had her talk show that she went on a diet at one point, and every single person who worked on the show was required to follow the same diet. Also, the whole "Be quiet, Tiffany" rant was apparently much longer and more brutal than what was shown on TV and edited to make Tiffany look like a brat. Needless to say, I'm not a fan anymore.
