We could make it so that the next generations are basically superhuman. But in this capitalistic world controlled by money and lust for power, this will be exclusive to the highest members of society, who will bring superbabies that will set a new standard and create a whole new kind of division among people. The future is heading towards gene-altered specimens and nothing it's going to stop it from happening. You'd find eugenicists trying to "eradicate" or get rid of gays by modifying them before they're born.
