Best Actress/Best Supporting Actor

The article linked below says that if Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant were to win for Best Actress and Supporting Actor respectively, it would be two consecutive years in a row for that particular combination in a film to win. WHAT!?!?! They are joking, right? That should not even be suggested in jest. I mean, why? That same phenomenon will occur when Stephani & Sam win their respective acting statues.

why do movies I never heard of always get oscar noms :ladyhaha:

They are only saying that if it happens, it will be a phenomenon that happens two years in a row. They are not suggesting that it will definitely happen.

Oscar nominations are not announced yet, and people speculate which films and actors will get nominated all the time.

i don’t think Sam will win, looks like Timothy Chalamet is picked currently on gold derby

I think a nomination would already be an achievement, considering how Sam had very little screentime in the movie, but he absolutely nailed every scene he was in, the fact that he made such a strong impression with just those few scenes is quite impressive.

Oscar-nominated films are usually not as commercially successful as huge sci-fi or action blockbusters, rather than impressive visuals and action sequences, they seek content, good acting, good story, emotion and usually only dramas are recognised for all of those things.

I understand what you're saying cause in my country many movies that are Oscar-contenders are not screened because they are not as 'visually impressive' as the usual blockbusters.

Maybe you're just too young to appreciate what good acting and direction is.

I don't even know what kind of films you consider as 'interesting', Transformers? Power Rangers?
