I acknowledged what he did was dumb and stupid. However, people ignoring the fact that this tribe kills ANYONE regardless of their purpose or situation and that seems to just be okay with everyone?

I don’t like it, but they’re an untouched civilization on their own land. They should be allowed to do as they please in their own territory because, well, they’re not part of society. Just leaving them alone is enough.

Being untouched doesn’t mean you can kill anyone  I mean they can still be untouched, but that doesn’t mean their actions should be justified cause they are untouched.

It’s their land. Their land, their rules. They aren’t part of modern society so we can’t really implement our morals etc. on them

The argument “their land,their rules” is flawed, though. With that argument it’s completely okay to shoot tear gas at people at the border in the US. 

Or in general this argument allows atrocities.  (Not saying you defend atrocities etc, but this is were the argument leads to) 

It doesn’t matter if the civilization is modern or not. (Maybe it’s modern in their eyes) Killing is not okay and needs to be criticized. (Same as trying to do missionary work)

So would you like the Indian government to illegally invade their land and arrest them all? And expose them all to modern bacteria and viruses that they don’t have any immunity to?  And risk all their lives? Like, there’s literally nothing that can be done. 

 

And no, it’s not like throwing tear gas into another country. Two completely different scenarios that should not be compared at all. One involves thousands of refugees seeking asylum from their war-torn/highly corrupt countries where they literally risk their lives every day by just existing there. The other involves an idiot going into foreign land to push his religious agenda.

Not when it’s a tribe of indigenous people who aren’t part of modern society and have zero clue how literally every one else on earth functions. It’s not like some country is going around killing innocent people, it’s literslly a tribe untouched by other humans. I’ll ask you what I asked that other user:

I understand and I’m honestly on your side of leaving them alone - I’m just playing devils advocate and asking, when do we force modern ethics into a society? And hold people accountable by “modern standards.”

If they were a tribe who sacrificed children, should we allow them to do that because they have been untouched by modern society? (Again this is all just “what if” situations).

I’m not saying they should be invaded. Don’t put words in my mouth. I’m all in for leaving them alone unless they want to make first contact.

I only said that they need to be criticized for it and not celebrated like some do here. Cultural relativism is not the right way to do it. 

And of course there is a difference in these scenarios, but the argument “it’s their land and their rules” can be applied there as well. I used it as an example for you to see that the “their rules their land” argument is flawed. 

Killing is always wrong. Missionary as well, but two wrong don’t make one right.
