Well, of course nobody deserves to die, but in the case that he got away with his plan and he entered the village or whatever, he would have probably ended up killing all the people there. So his desire to "help them" could have actually end in the death of a 12 inncent people who are just living their life without bothering anyone. Kindness rules all.
