eta: there are some positive reviews, but while reading the neg ones, it dawns on me -I wonder if Gaga has read these reviews...? Their commentary seems so opposite of what I see in Gaga. Could she have made an adjustment in her public face since the release of 5F2? All I see is a woman concerned about the current state of the world, using her tremendous platform for good, conveying messages of empathy, acceptance, understanding. Everyone who collaborates with her is moved by her ability to listen, be present, her generosity. I have never before witnessed a person of her stature spend so much time interfacing directly with her fans, touching them, allowing them to get up close to her. She exudes gratitude endlessly, acknowledges others, reveals intimate reflections, exposes her vulnerbilities, - F*ck them.

Is this really new to you? My mom’s been saying it since 2008 lol

Gaga is ABSOLUTELY obsessed with herself, it probably has a direct link to her mental health, I am like that too. It’s not about narcissism at all from my experience. Anxiety makes you overthink EVERYTHING and a very helpful way of dealing with it is spending huge amounts of time with yourself and think about how and why you got to where you are and what would make the pain go away. For Gaga, as for me, self inspection is a way of understanding emotions, thoughts and actions which is vital for surviving in an intense, fast paced and highly triggering world. Her artistry comes from within and that’s her way of healing, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but it’s also why we all fell in love with her. She’s both the artist and the canvas. Sure, it can seem self involved, but it’s more than that. It’s self destruction in order to come out the other side stronger, different and inspired to help others

Is a docu about her not someone else, who should she talk about? :toofunny: her chickens? Would that be more down to earth for haters? :ohwell:

I wonder if they were aware that it was a Lady Gaga documentary about Lady Gaga. I'm pretty sure she didnt spend an entire year talking about herself and if they think looking into 90 minutes of her life is any reflection on who she is as a person, their loss tbh.

Not even mentioning how you have to have a bit of arrogance (even more than just confidence) to make it anywhere in Hollywood. That's just facts. As long as she's as kind and loving as people who actually know her describe her, I think that's more than enough.

My only issue with the doc, and potentially the reason why some viewers think she comes across a bit 'woe is I', is that she totally ignored everything that happened since AP which was really the catalyst of the problems she was having during 5ft2. It almost felt to me like she was picking up where she left off in 2011 and her biggest problem since then was breaking her hip. To a casual viewer its not a surprise that they didn't fully sympathise with what she was going through because for whatever reason she neglected to mention how bad things have actually been for her for so many years, so to them its like whats the big problem but us fans know whats what.

Not the bore worms!

I mean, it is a documentary about her.....documenting HER life, so obviously its gonna be mainly about her..and what do they expect, her not to have fancy things? She is a celebrity, its not like she is gonna get something from the trash and wear it.

This! Like, wtf else is she supposed to talk about in a documentary about her...? People will literally try to see the bad in everything, it’s so tired.

The only thong that bothered me is the fact that every scene includes her being groomed, getting make up, fixing her hair... Not too much but it may come off as insecure-ish / narcissist if ur not a Gaga fan

Sis I have the same problem everytime I write from mobile. Maybe it's a way of the universe telling us we should buy thongs?:stalkga:

I'd just like to start off by saying I love Gaga and I'm a big fan. :saira:

But...

I didn't like 5 foot 2 for the reasons others have stated.

I agree with  @AlexanderMagno  that it didn't feel spontaneous and alot of the scenes seemed to be set up. The whole thing didn't seem like a real insight into her life.

I can see why people think she is narcissistic. I have only seen it once and it's been a while so I can't think of scenes to refer to because my memory is patchy. But the whole vibe I got was the documentary is fake and I didn't like some parts of Gaga's personality.

I would watch it again but I really don't want to. :awkney:
