gagarox 1,495
Taylor has obviously peaked now is terms of musical success. She isnt topping 1989 era anytime soon. Also she cant continue to make max martin produced manufactured hits forever. She needs to revive her sound again and bring back her country pop sound back. she obviously still will be very profitable. I only wanted to ask that in future if she wants to do a greatest hits CD will she need to go to Big machine records or her new label? Also how many albums she needs for her new contract? And when is Gaga's contract ending with interscope?

Gaga’s contract was renewed with Joanne, it’s known that it’s another 5 albums, and that she has more liberties in regards to A&R for the album. and the promotions. Taylor has immense staying power and has consistently put out amazing figures with nearly every album. She has a huge following too from teens to adults unlike other artists who seem to cater to specific demographics. I think that contributes to her staying power. To top it off her tours (especially the recent ones) make serious bank. If her next era alone is as successful as any of her last few then the deal basically pays for itself. And given Universal's track record, I'm sure they won't be sleeping on supporting Taylor's next era. They're going to squeeze every last drop. 1 hour ago, FlopSlurper said: As of early November, her tour has grossed 304 million dollars, from 46 shows That's JUST the tour, without merch, without album sales, singles, streaming etc, deals etc etc. It's BMR plan in some sense, they were 100% investing on her, this is why her eras and tours were successful, even though reputation showed a bit movement of decline compare to the previous era. So it's interesting to see how Republic Records are going to handle her, it's a lot of money, but as we know now, one day you can be the top of the streaming playlists and the other day you can't even reach the chilling playlist.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Hasn't her stadium tour kinda done that Like it's kinda impressive considering the main pop girls music isn't as popular right now

Gaga needs to stay with Interscope, they're a good label.

Ofcourse touring wise she will only become bigger. Just like Gaga. Main pop girls become huge in their 30s and till the mid to late 40s.
goldenrealm 1,238
I'm not knowledgeable in music industry, but I thought an artist like Taylor are able to create their own music label, are there any extra perks joining existing music label compared to create your own? I think Republic is able to pay her the HUGE amount of money while she doesn't have to worry about all the business stuff and focus on the creating her work instead. And I think she holds enough power to win negotiations with the label.

I could see the A&R and promo being the lone things that Gaga wanted out of that deal. I mean, she's said a million times how little she cares for money and at a certain point what does it matter when you're rich as all get out? But for an artist like Gaga creative rights are EVERYTHING. It's always interesting to me to see where the personal things come into play on deals like this. Agreed; plus, even when they do control certain things, they seem to be willing to listen to artist input (ala TFM cover art, Alejandro as a single of DITD, Joanne as an album instead of the disco stuff she'd been working on for YEARS at that point, etc.)
Prada 1,200
There is no singer in the industry, Beyonce- Gaga no one as profitable as Taylor. Bey is second. Bey only rocks tour wise. and guess what Taylor is even better at that too. Album and single sales, tour. She makess MAAAANEY.

Plus in Gaga’s case, she’s one of those artists that has a 360 deal, so she gets a piece of every pie.
