He’s honestly connected with so many people (Allie X, LIZ, Doja Cat, there’s reputable rumors that he’s still making money off of Kesha and Katy’s music) and people don’t say anything about that. The music industry is tricky unfortunately, everybody’s connected to everybody.

When will her contract end? because a lot of people that are against dr luke like allie x do like her. Maybe she just cant say anything about disliking him??? But she says it to Allie and her other collaborators? Because why would charli or sophie work with a rape apologist... It is just very confusing I feel like there is a lot we dont know

There's a difference from him still making money off of someone's music when they don't have a choice and someone openly supporting and defending him.

While she hasn’t worked with him in a while, there’s reason to believe that she’s still connected to him through tweets and that he gets a cut of what she makes (kind of like how he’s still making money off of Witness through prescription songs even though he didn’t produce a single track).

Again, she’s most likely under contract and can’t say anything bad about him, if she did, he could possibly take legal action for defamation of character and take her career from under her (i.e. Kesha). AAAAND who knows? Maybe Kim’s truly has had a good experience working with him.

She doesn't have to go around defending him either. I think it's very fair to say since her defense was essentially, "well, he didn't rape me!" Great. That's awesome. But he has been accused by a whole host of others so maybe don't pass off that so callously. Regardless of circumstances, she's handled this wrong. 

 

Though clearly it doesn't matter because mention it to any gay man who went weak-kneed for Praying and it's like they have peanut butter on the roofs of their mouths. Can't say anything because they know that it's s*** to give her a pass, but they will because YASS BOPZ. What's more is that it isn't like her music has permeated the zeitgeist or that she's become some hugely significant cultural icon where we have to find ourselves in a bind separating artist from the art. People find it harder for someone like Bowie or Prince or lord knows who else because of how much they influenced not only music, but fashion, and art *in general* (i.e. look at how many people have been influenced by them who are *not* creeps?). That's not to say that they get a pass, obviously they don't, but the ways in which those artists have permeated the zeitgeist really truly does present a more difficult case because how can you truly just act as though those names don't exist when they've influenced so much. This is none such case as her music is not exactly groundbreaking work nor has she had the kind of cultural impact where it's hard to expunge her creative footprint from cultural consciousness. Example: If Gaga did something abhorrent, it would be very difficult to truly erase her. She's left her mark whether that's in the gay boy who feels more comfortable wearing eyeliner or musically for the years following '08. We would still chastise Gaga, but a separation of art and artist would almost have to be made because of how far-reaching their work was. Again, Petras has had no such impact as of yet and the gays are just letting this slide because it's easy.

I’m split on Kim. On the one hand I do feel a certain way about her working with an alleged rapist and defending him so openly. On the other hand she’s a trans woman so finding good producers that are willing to work with her must be very tough as it is and I’m sure she’s scared of burning that bridge with Dr. Luke.

    Exactly. Charli has very openly spoken out against Dr. Luke in the past but works with Kim. I doubt she would work with someone who openly supports someone she believes is a rapist unless there are unheard conversations we don't know about. Troye also said he had conversations with Kim and now understands where her heart is.

    There's obviously something fishy going on with Dr. Luke once again that we don't understand. I honestly think she signed a contract that she wasn't completely aware of. This is why I continue to support her.
