Stigma and lack of understanding is attached to mental health issues. That impacts the rich and poor, young and old, insured and uninsured.

If being wealthy was the answer for mental health issues, wealthy people wouldn’t commit suicide.

You also said yourself that you're not in pain, mentally or physically? You haven't had a time when everyday you wanted to kill yourself?

Have you had days when you switched between five different personalities in one day? And you have to ask your best friend what those personalities did so that they didn't do anything stupid?

Listen, I have depression. My bestie has BPD and DID and depression. It's mostly financial for us, yeah. But as others have said, there are things in and outside one's mind that prevents them from going to therapy. Plus it takes a few good visits to know whether or not that therapist is for you.

I didn't mean to be mean, but you are, to me, basically trying to deflate a well meaning speech.

Okay, she should have said something differently. Did you have another point to make?

I already said I now understand what she was trying to say. I get that she had barriers that were not financial that prevented her from seeking help. I made this thread because I was concerned that I was misunderstanding her and I wanted someone to clarify what Gaga was saying. I think most of us including you came to the conclusion that her words and what she meant were not fully in sync. I think she should have specifically mentioned the mental barriers she had because people like me who cannot relate to being so depressed and mentally unwell that they cannot seek help will be confused.  It seems to me that you are offended by me discussing any opinion about Gaga that is not 100% positive and ridicule me for wanting to have an open conversation on this site. And you are continuing to be rude to me with your sarcastic final sentence so I think its best if we just stop replying to each other.

Well I'm sorry. I truly am, but, it's honestly these stupid little things that get to me. Like this could have been entirely left alone, ya know? Like I don't see the point of pointing out these things if it takes out the meaning or purpose.

I'll be honest. I am one of those fans who will swallow anything Gaga does. However, I treat Gaga as a person and I'm easy to please. She is allowed mistakes.

This is something well meaning. This speech made me cry while I was reading it. Is it truly worth it to point out a mistake?

As you said yourself, this post isn't 100% positive. But if Gaga herself is 100% positive, isn't that all that matters?

I mean, this is a speech full of realism, to promote optimism.

My point was that I didn't know there was a mistake. I was confused by her speech and made this thread to gain clarity about what she was saying. I thought I might have been misunderstanding her and I was. I now understand the reason I was confused and came to the wrong conclusion about what she was saying  was because of the way she worded some things. I did not make this thread to point out a mistake in her speech.
