Will some users feel the need to come to this thread and write paragraphs defending the confederacy for some reason?  Hopefully not. I hope we can all agree that the confederacy is unnecessary.

Can't the South come up with a better flag to represent themselves and their heritage or whatever than a centuries old racist symbol that lost the civil war? Don't know why the flag is so important to them. And what heritage? Sweet tea?

Besides, the confederate flag only started making a comeback around the time the Civil Rights Movement became big as a reactionary movement. So you know what it really is about.

Not only that, the Confederacy was TREASON against The United States. Doesn’t get more anti-American than that

Woah, I don't know much about American history as a Canadian, but knowing that Confederacy was basically anti-American just changes everything in this from my perspective. 

Now I'm more confused why this is even an issue. Why are people so passionate keeping the Confederate flags/monuments/etc?  I don't get it. How is that American?
