Emotional intelligence and creativity isn't being gifted though, Gaga obviously has both of those but they do not equal being gifted. Gifted means you have an easier time absorbing and processing information than other people, and as such that affects your personality and thoughts, it doesn't necessarily mean you have a high IQ either, it's just that the process of acquiring that intelligence is easier for you, and as such the chances of you having a high IQ are bigger, though it's not guaranteed. She's definitely not super-smart and the people who think that are just overzealous stans looking to justify their love for their fave even more ssksk. I love Gaga btw this really isn't hate. You do know that she is in fact incredibly intelligent to the point she is in the 1% of the population right? She is an alumni of Center For Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University. Not to mention a musical prodigy considering she taught herself piano at the age of four. She is not only incredibly book smart but creatively and artistically as well. Gifted doesn't begin to describe her intellectually. I was in gifted education with an IQ of 153 and I would say I don't hold a candle next to her because not only is she that brilliant she is extremely dedicated and hard working. When someone is so hugely talented in one or more areas, there is often an imbalance in other functioning areas. This is where "mental illness" often comes into play. There are very few artists (or people who have a very specific talent in one area) who do not have some sort of mental illness. People like this are prone to ADHD/ADD, anxiety, substance abuse/addiction, depression, PTSD, etc. This is due to a basic brain neuron connection situation that arises when one area of the brain is "over connected" and another is "under connected." It's how savants exist. Most "geniuses" are also very mentally tortured people who feel things VERY deeply and struggle to cope with life. I believe Gaga is a musical genius, and a tortured artist. Intellectually, she can definitely hold her own, and is clearly well educated and has the ability to extrapolate deep meaning from literary works as well as observations of the world around her (thus, she is a phenomenal song writer). She is deeply empathetic and, as they say, "wears her heart on her sleeve." I don't think she is gifted. She has a unique brain and was fortunate to be born into a supportive and loving family with a drive to succeed. That combination doesn't come around very often at all. And I'm happy that she does that. I guess it's fodder for the forum to discuss. I can also imagine that depression and drug/alcohol use have normal side-effects on gifted people. She has talent, brains, CHARISMA, creativity, and to some extent, genius moments. She is definitely gifted. Just because she was boxed in a pop lens for so long, you think that's her limit. It's not. Obviously some people are smarter than other's but intelligence manifests itself in many different ways. Some people are mathematically smart some creative other's with languages. Children are gifted when their ability is significantly above the norm for their age. However, based off of that alone she does meet all requirements for being labeled as intellectually gifted as the link above also points out. She is beyond gifted actually, and the fact that people could say how brilliant she is but at the same time not be gifted clearly means you don't understand what it means to be in fact "gifted." She is an incredibly rare human being regardless of her upbringing. But having parents who nurtured her gifts and eccentricities made her what she is today. This is why children who are like her need to have access to special services just like children with disabilities. It can make all the difference in the world.
