Well in all respect I didn't like it at all.

She can definitely sing, but I cringed several times (once at the beginning) and it's a shame they destroyed the song.

It's good though that the movie/song is getting that promo. But I'm not sure people will recognize the song. It sounded completely different from the original +those awful cuts... :(

She's clearly a talented singer - but there was no build up... There was no subtlety in her voice. A lot of that has to do with the time she had, but the pay off of that climax just isn't as powerful without the build up. A great vocal performance is more than just showing off your impressive range and key changes.

This is too much packed into such little time.

She was offkey a couple of times. Ugh the problem with Gaga being your standard for talent, everybody falls short

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

She was so great!

And if you're going to comment on the key or whatever, remember that Gaga doesn't sing Paparazzi in it's original key.

Some of you will feel cute by attacking this as if you think by doing that you are diminishing this talented girl and hyping up Gaga, but you are not doing that and Stef would be disappointed in you.

Also, of course she can't deliver the full emotional dynamic did with a song originally over five minutes, that was greatly reduced into a couple minutes for a reality show. The fact you are going to comment on the structure of the performance and its emotional gravity, behind your desk while you are doing what... being a jerk? Says more about you than her performance. She did great.

Or.... The people here that don't like the performance just, simply don't like the performance? I don't think anyone is being a 'jerk' about it - people in this thread have been pretty respectful, acknowledging that she is clearly a great singer while at the same time expressing that the arrangement and the time constraints don't do justice to the song.

It's a totally acceptable opinion to have, and it's understandable that a significant portion of this fanbase - who are far more likely to have repeatedly listened to, and developed an affection for, this song would be more thrown off by the omission of sections of this song that we love and that we feel adds to the song.

It was cut short for the reality show, everyone understands this, but that doesn't make it more enjoyable for some of us  I personally love the slow build up that leads to that climactic finish in the original - it's satisfying. In this situation where there is no time to build up to that climax and so it's just filled with vocal stylings, belts and key changes I don't like it... It doesn't have the same impact when that climax is just given to us, when it isn't something that has been worked towards. It's great that you do like it, but for me it takes out what I love and appreciate about this song.

You acknowledge that "
she can't deliver the full emotional dynamic" of the original 5:29 minuet song by reducing it to 1:57 minuets, but that emotional brevity is what fans love about the song. It's not surprising a lot of people here don't love the performance and I think it's rather simplistic and insulting to reduce the reason to "people think they are hyping Gaga by diminishing this girl" - especially when the majority of comments expressing a dislike for the performance are also including things like:

"
She can definitely sing"
"She has a nice voice, tho."
"She's clearly a talented singer"
"She was good, and can definitely sing"
"She’s clearly very talented"
"I wish she was allowed to sing the entire song"
"She has an amazing voice"

That doesn't sound like fans trying to tear down Scarlet Lee - it sounds like fans acknowledging that she has great talent while disliking the performance due to the drastic shortening and re-structuring of a song, that they have a great affection for, due to time-restraints.

I don't get by being honest with what we feel at the performance instantly makes us a "jerk", don't be so judgmental. It's just I don't like it, and of course it is my f***ing personal opinion.

It’s now number 12 on UK Itunes, not sure what it was before the performance :)

#20. It rose to #12 in the space of 1 update last night, gaining over 800 points, I believe. It's a breath away from #11 now! As a plus, Shallow has now risen to #2 again. It's falling again, unfortunately, but only because Ariana's pulling away with her #1 lead even more, but #3 will only continue to fall, so this is good news.
